Dear Viewer,

My goodness...what a week this has been! We have certainly witnessed much chaos in our country, and, if you're like me, you've had more anxiety than usual. Here in Los Angeles, we have continued to have a surge in the Covid-19 virus, bringing even more anxiety. Several of our church family have contacted us asking for prayer, as they (or their loved ones) are experiencing the virus right now. I want to urge us all to be vigilant in staying safe - washing hands, wearing masks, staying home as much as possible - and receive the vaccine as soon as it is available to us.

Last week, we celebrated the Epiphany of Jesus, and this week we'll look at the Baptism of Jesus. We don't know much about Jesus' childhood, but when we get to his Baptism, we begin to see who he grew up to be and what he began to teach. I never tire of learning more about this Jesus! If you've been asking yourself, "How can we get through all this chaos?", the answer is simple: Jesus said, "I Am the way, the truth, and the life." My message this week is about Jesus being The Way-Maker. If you'd like to read ahead, check out Acts 19:1-7 (The Voice) and Mark 1:4-11 (The Voice). I look forward to worshiping with you online this Sunday!

Founder's Metropolitan Community Church Announcements for the week of 1-08-21!
Pictures, Please!
It's that time again - for all of us to participate! During the next few weeks, we'd love for you to take a picture of you making the sign of the heart (or finding some other creative way to display a heart!) for our Passing of the Peace pictures. We'll feature them through the end of February, as we have Valentine's Day and American Heart Month. Send your pictures to revkeith@mccla.org. Remember, use good lighting and take the picture in landscape mode.

Prayer for Epiphany

God of love and healing,

We journey toward You, like the Magi; we are called to seek You. With perseverance and courage, we bring our whole selves. We are filled with gratitude, but we are also very, very tired. We are weary. Our bodies ache from the journey. Our hearts ache from missed connections and empty chairs at our tables.

Your gaze lands on us, and You call us beautiful. You reassure us. Our mask-covered faces are an embodiment of Your love in this world. You remind us that the pain of isolation and social distancing is a testament to our love of neighbor. You awaken in us the possibility of healing.

We meet You and receive the promise of hope.

Amen
