General Synod 34 Recap

New General Minister and President!

General Synod 34 has officially concluded, marking the beginning of a time for action. During this Synod, 13 resolutions of witness, 1 bylaws change, and the election of a new GMP, Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, took place. While some votes were more contentious than others, all of them hold relevance for our church in the coming years.

It is crucial to bear in mind that the resolutions passed by the greater body at General Synod are intended to speak to churches, not on their behalf. Under this structure, it is the responsibility of each individual church to adopt and act upon these resolutions. We earnestly urge you to invest time in studying these documents and facilitate discussions to determine their applicability to you and your church.

For a general overview of the Synod you can find articles on UCC News.

For a list of the revised resolutions you can go to the General Synod Website.

Once the official amended resolutions are ready you will be able to find them at https://uccresolutions.org

UCC Webinar

UCC Trailblazer, the EPA, and New Grant Programs

Lee is now the Senior Policy Advisor for Environmental Justice at the EPA. He will be joined by Jacob Burney who directs the Environmental Justice Grants Division at the EPA. In the past year, the EPA has been in the news due to significant institutional changes that have prioritized funding and staffing for environmental justice. REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

During these hot a steamy summer days, we pray for the renewal of all things. May people’s body, minds, and spirit be renewed by opportunities for rest and frolic. May creation which has been so abundantly abused be renewed by the care of those who have been call to be stewards of her well-being. May the church be renewed by the welcoming of possibilities we never dared engage before.

O God, in your tender mercy, Hear our prayers
