After driving around yesterday to deliver Elkhorn Community Guides I had the opportunity to speak with many of our northern partners who are preparing for a long summer of road construction. From stop lights to bridge repairs, friends to the north will be surrounded by hard hats and road crews.
The map provided by WisDOT tells travelers how to bypass the entire section of road repairs. However, we want to ensure that everyone remembers all the tricks and tips to navigate to your favorite coffee shops, gas stations and place of worship as we prepare for the summer/fall construction.
Just in case you've never veered off Hwy 12 and explored the back roads of Elkhorn, this maps for you! This is your crash course on navigating to the north during the 2024 road construction and your friendly reminder to stop, shop and visit the businesses located past latitude 42°41'58.5"N. Mix it up! Try blue one day. Try red the next! Gosh, it's like a choose your own adventure book!
I've watched this community rally around families and businesses when faced with adversity. I would say that closing down the main pipeline to the north business district is a major obstacle that each of us can help overcome! Until snow hits the ground, don't be afraid to add the extra 2 minutes to patronize your favorite restaurant, golf course or ice cream store! I can tell you with great certainty, your effort will be greatly appreciated.
