Budget Task Force Provides Input to City

The Chamber/Downtown Association Joint Budget Task Force has offered its suggestions for the City’s annual budget process. Thankfully, the City of Bellevue has a well-deserved reputation for fiscal prudence and is generally in good shape. However, there are financial challenges looming on the horizon, including the cost of staffing new Fire Station #10 and covering Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters unfunded pension liability.

Chamber Prefers Incentives for Carbon Reduction

The Bellevue Chamber Board has affirmed an earlier recommendation not to support Initiative 1631, imposing a new tax on carbon. While the Chamber strongly supports the reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, our position is this can best be done thorough incentives rather than mandates. For starters, we’ll support a tax exemption or credit for alternative fuel vehicles and other proposals to electrify the transportation sector during the 2019 Legislative Session.
