Chamber Weighs-In on Affordable Groceries and Carbon Fees Initiatives
With the General Election just around the corner, Chamber Leadership recommends positions on two statewide ballot measures, each with strong implications for business. Initiative 1634 would amend state law and preempt local governments from enacting a tax or fee on groceries, including sweetened beverages. The Chamber recommends a YES vote. Initiative 1631 proposes a carbon fee of $15 per ton in 2020, with an annual escalator of $2 plus inflation until 2035. The Chamber recommends a NO vote.

Chamber Tees Up Q4 Business Advocacy Priorities

As we move from the dog days of summer towards back-to-school, the Chamber is ready to take up the issues that impact Bellevue businesses. Right out of the chute, we’ll take a closer look at the City of Bellevue’s proposed biennial budget and Transportation Facilities Plan from a business point of view. Council will also resume the siting process for a men’s permanent homeless shelter.

But that’s just the start. Learn more in the Bellevue Blitz and suggest your own priorities >
