The New Year began with a bang, as the East King Chambers Coalition discussed their 2017 business agenda with Eastside Legislators at their annual Legislative Breakfast last week. Business and community leaders heard a lively dialogue as Emcee Robert Mak quizzed state House members over education funding, Governor Inslee's B&O tax proposal and how to get I-405 moving again. Legislature Convenes - Changes to Eastside Delegation    
The 65th Washington Legislature convened on Monday, January 9 at 12 Noon, marking the start of a 105 day Regular Session. As the House and Senate prepare to fund basic education and adopt a budget for the 2017-2019 biennium, there are changes to the East King County legislative delegation. We'll keep you apprised as legislators take aim at funding basic education, reducing congestion on I-405 and sustaining our economic recovery. 
  • Senator Cyrus Habib (D-48) takes office Lt. Governor;
  • Rep. Patty Kuderer (D-48) appointed to Habib's state Senate seat;
  • Bellevue Councilmember Vandana Slatter appointed to Kuderer's state House seat;
  • Former Senator Dino Rossi appointed to vacant state Senate Seat in 48th District;
  • Newly elected Sen. Lisa Wellman (D-41) takes office;
  • Newly elected Rep. Paul Graves (R-5) takes office.
