Bellevue Chamber Foundation Awards Four Scholarships to Deserving Students
The Bellevue business community understands that an excellent education supports our future workforce. To recognize outstanding students the Bellevue Chamber Foundation, with community partners who support education, has awarded $7,500 in scholarships to Bellevue High School District college bound seniors:

  • Elizabeth Lin, Newport High School, KeyBank Scholarship
  • Patrick Liu, Interlake High School, M. Gail Ryder Scholarship
  • Christina Li, Interlake High School, Ralph James Family Memorial Scholarship

Call for Exhibitors: Spirit of Bellevue Health Fair Sept. 10 
The Spirit of Bellevue Run/Walk Health & Wellness Fair offers the opportunity to gain visibility in front of an active lifestyle audience as well as the community at large. The 5K will finish at Bellevue Downtown Park, the location of the Fair and a Mile Challenge will take place in the Park as well. Celebrate the Arts this Weekend!
It's time to celebrate a long tradition in Bellevue this weekend with three free arts and crafts fairs. Several streets downtown will close for the free fairs, which are expected to pull in more than 300,000 people over the three-day run (July 28-30). Other activities include live music, food and children's art activities.

Nominations for 2017 King County Executive's Small Business Awards Extended to August 5!
Do you know of a small business that's doing great things (hint hint, this could be your business!)? Nominations for the 2017 King County Executive's Small Business Awards will close August 5. The Awards event on September 21 will celebrate and honor the success of small businesses throughout King County.

Public Affairs Committee to take on Homelessness 
Mark your calendars for a briefing on the  Eastside Men's Homeless Shelter and Supportive Housing Project Thursday, August 10, 12 Noon at the Chamber office.

In order to allow policy committee members to focus solely on the issue of homelessness, the Transportation Committee will not meet during the month of August.
Legislature Adjourns
Just eight days after it began, the 3rd Special Session adjourned on July 20. While legislators previously adopted a $43.7 biennial operating budget, they left town without a capital budget or a solution to the Hirst decision, relating to water rights. Opening Fall 2017: Bright Horizons at Bellevue Spring District  
Bright Horizons is opening a new child care center in the Spring District neighborhood of Bellevue. Bright Horizons at Bellevue Spring District will serve children 6 weeks to 6 years old with Infant - Kindergarten Prep programs. 

The center highlights include high-quality curriculum, Movement Matters Zone, STEM lab, art studio, SMART Board, and touch screen computers. Foreign language and music enrichments will also be included in tuition.
