February has been a busy month at The Guild, even while it's been cold outside. We've had some festive celebrations and fun outings, plus an upcoming series for parents and guardians. Read on for the latest news from The Guild:

Program series for parents and guardians

Raising a child who has been diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability can be an unexpected situation that takes away the ability to control what’s next and alters what it means to care for a child. The Guild is hosting a workgroup for guardians to identify complex emotions and build skills to work through them with mindfulness and self-compassion.

If you have not received details about this event and would like to participate, please send us an email. Space is limited and priority will be given to first-time participants.

Dedham House cheers on Boston College basketball

Some of the guys from Dedham House cheered on the BC Men's Basketball team at a recent home game. They enjoyed getting ready together, scoping out the arena, and meeting the mascot, Baldwin the Eagle!

Celebrating Valentine's Day with gratitude

Students at The Guild School students decorated paper hearts to show what and who they love this Valentine's Day. Some wrote out names of people in their lives, others used icons or drew pictures, and many decorated with stickers, markers, and glitter!

Adult residents celebrated with their own crafts, activities at home, and at events in the community.

Rolling with it!

This month a group of The Guild School students had a blast bowling together. It was a fun-filled outing at the local bowling alley with some friendly competition!

Community engagement in action

The Guild is one of 17 organizations participating in a work group as part of the Community Life Engagement in Action Project. The group brings together select providers and advisors to share learnings, common experiences, and policies. The work group engages local leadership, conducts interviews, and builds case studies to better understand emerging needs and best practices.
