Developmental Disability Awareness Month

For more than 70 years, The Guild has met the needs of populations with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is to educate, encourage, and empower individuals with IDD so they may achieve their full potential to lead high-quality lives and participate meaningfully in the community.

The Guild is committed to offering services that are strengths-based, trauma-informed and outcomes-oriented. Through our individualized planning and continuous evaluation of needs, we support an environment that is the least restrictive and most appropriate for each individual served.

Profound Autism Summit

The Guild is proud to be sponsoring the annual two-day Profound Autism Summit which brings together leaders in research, medicine, treatment, advocacy, and education to discuss the needs and support of those with Profound Autism across disciplines and throughout the lifespan.

The conference is April 10 & 11 in Boston.

Hands-on learning in and out of the classroom

The Guild School launched Without Walls one year ago, a curriculum designed to learn and practice functional skills in community-based settings. The program is implemented in all classrooms with a particular focus on independent living skills for youth preparing for the transition to adult programming at the age of 22. Educators deliver lesson plans in the classroom and students have the chance to put what they’ve learned into practice on an accompanying community trip.

St. Patrick's Day

Individuals at The Guild celebrated the holiday decked out in green! Adult residents of Sudbury House continued their tradition of attending the family breakfast at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton. Students at The Guild School decorated gold coins that expressed their own unique traits and personalities!

FY25-27 Strategic Plan

In pursuit of our mission, The Guild develops a strategic plan every three years to ensure that the organization’s goals are relevant to current needs and stakeholders’ vision.

Over the next three years, The Guild will work to achieve the following:

  • Enhance the quality of programs through deepening service models and consistent staffing.
  • Create a body of research that reflects the needs of people with I/DD.
  • Expand supported work opportunities and external engagement for individuals served at The Guild.
  • Build community-based residential care model for adults with co-occurring I/DD and intensive mental health needs.
