The Guild has been busy this May! It's been a month of celebration as we recognized the achievements of students and residents, the dedication of educators, and the opening of a new adult residence. We also had information to share about caring for your mental health and the benefits of music therapy.

Annual Awards ceremonies

Students and residents of The Guild work hard to accomplish their goals throughout the year. This month, we held our annual awards ceremonies to celebrate that dedication and their accomplishments. Thank you to the parents, guardians, friends, family, and staff who have supported their progress and who attended the events. Congratulations to all the individuals on their awards!

New adult residences in Bedford

The Guild is excited to expand our adult program with two new homes in Bedford this summer. We are looking forward to welcoming new residents to their long-term homes.

Bedford 1 officially opened its doors this month, and Bedford 2 will follow at the end of June!

Educator Appreciation Week

Classroom teachers, teaching assistants, clinical and vocational staff, student services, transition services, and residential services all work together to monitor progress and adjust the IEP to ensure that each student is progressing toward their highest level of achievement.

In celebration of Educator Appreciation Week from May 4 – 8, The Guild School recognizes staff members who have gone above and beyond to support students in and out of the classroom. Read about them on the blog!

Mental Health Awareness Month

How do you take care of your mental health? Amelia* at The Guild School shared some tips that work for her, inspired by the song "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne.

  1. Talk to a friend or someone you trust
  2. Keep holding on
  3. Know you're not alone
  4. Have a dance party
  5. Live, laugh, love

The power of music therapy

The Guild hosts weekly music groups for youth and adults and several residences attend programs on their own. Sophia was featured in a blog post from Roman Music Therapy, sharing stories that reflect the real, human impact of music therapy across Massachusetts.

"It’s provided my daughter and her peers with a lot of stimulation, fun, and learning," says Linda, Sophia's mom.
