May has been busy at The Guild! We've been making the most of warmer weather with our annual spring dance and seasonal community experiences. In May, we recognized National Dental Care Month, National Nurses Week, and Educator Appreciation Week. We also held a fundraiser and community-building event in Wayland which raised almost $25,000. Thanks to everyone who has been involved in the success of these recent events!

Spring dance coverage

At the spring dance, students, residents, and staff alike came together to dance to and sing along with the hits of the 80s and 90s. The event showcases our community shining brightly together, highlighted by moments of joy, independence and empowerment.

This year, we were accompanied by special guests from The Boston Globe. They captured the lively event through a series of photos and a video story.

National dental care month

Providing dental care to individuals with IDD is a specialized field. At The Guild School, faculty from Tufts Dental Facilities visit 3-4 times per year to do cleanings and dental exams for students in an environment that’s familiar and comfortable for them.

Recognizing outstanding nurses and educators

The Guild celebrated Educator Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week from May 5 – 11. We shared a few spotlights of staff selected across departments for their commitment to The Guild School and its students.

Community, inclusion, and belonging

More than 80 guests from Sudbury, Wayland, and the surrounding area who gathered to connect with friends, enjoy live music, share food and cocktails, and have meaningful conversations about inclusion and belonging. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and supported The Guild's mission through this event!
