We've had a busy start to the fall here at The Guild! We kicked off the month with the Flutie 5K road race, raising nearly $9,000 for The Guild's programming. Our adults got out in the community with outdoor adventures and sporting events. Guild student athletes were recognized for their achievements during a Special Olympics ceremony. Guild students honored at Special Olympics ceremony
Seven Guild School athletes who participated in the Special Olympics Massachusetts Area Games in Track and Field over the summer were honored during a special awards ceremony. Four members of the Concord Police Department helped present the students with awards. Read more here.
The Guild celebrates Direct Support Professional Recognition Week
September 11-18 was national Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. Our DSPs are the heart and soul of supports for our students and residents. We highlighted Norman Rutinwa, Teaching Assistant; May Kawaala, Residential Assistant; Wilio Jumelle, Assistant Residential Manager; and Abenaa Kwabena, Residential Assistant on our blog. Adult residents get out in the community
This month, our adult residents got outside and enjoyed mini golf, kayaking with Waypoint Adventure, and watching Boston College's home opener football game against the Colgate Raiders. View more photos here.

The Guild participates in the Flutie 5k
On Sunday, September 12th, nearly 20 Guild staff, parents and supporters ran and walked in the Flutie 5K for Autism at Lookout Farm in Natick. Choices and the Power of Possibilities: Webinar

Join us on Wednesday, October 13th at 7 p.m. as authors J.M. Crawford, parent of a Guild adult resident (Choices) and Nicole Donovan (A Life Suspended) share their personal stories of love and determination while navigating the confusing world of autism. Both authors will be reading excerpts from their memoirs with a Q&A segment to follow. Register here.
The Guild announces new board member

The Guild recently elected Nazli Kibria to its Board of Trustees. Kibria is a Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Boston University. A parent of a Guild School graduate, Kibria was born in Bangladesh and received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her PhD in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.
