Student Updates
Student Volunteer Opportunities
Are you interested in earning volunteer hours while raising awareness about dating and domestic violence in your community? Would you like to be trained as a peer counselor, earn a stipend, and get valuable experience for your resume? Center for Domestic Peace is a non-profit domestic violence agency in Marin offering online internships/volunteer hours to high school students through our Marin Against Youth Abuse (MAYA) and Champion Men's Zone (CMZ) programs.

The Marin Against Youth Abuse program, also known as MAYA, will train you to be a Healthy Relationships Advocate and Peer Counselor to help friends and family who may have questions about relationships. MAYA is the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at 4 PM.
The Champion Men's Zone program, also known as CMZ, is specifically for those who identify as male. We started a group last year, and we had a lot of fun doing activities such as Open Mic, and conversations about masculinity and how that is related to relationships. The CMZ program is every Monday.

For both programs, you will:
  • Receive a Stipend of $30 for 4 volunteer hours
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Have fun creating art projects with friends while bringing awareness and prevention to campus communities
  • An opportunity to be licensed by CA as a domestic violence advocate, a $350 value, free!
During COVID, as we know, DV and dating abuse have gone up. Something you have seen on social media. This is your chance to do something about it. We meet on zoom.
Anyone between the ages of 13 and 24 is welcome to apply! If you're interested, please click on the links below. You can also reach me at  jderas@c4dp.org.

Kindness Club Challenge #17
This week's challenge is all about random acts of kindness. Please take some time to do something nice for someone that you see this week and next. There are so many ways to do this challenge, but here are a few examples.
  • Paying for the person behind you in a drive-through

  • Putting coins in the meter

  • Giving someone a compliment
DM @srhskindnessclub on Instagram or email mrodriguez@srcs.org with your stories - we want to see how you practice self kindness.
