The Volunteer Voice
Vol. 5 Issue 12                           Be The Change. Volunteer                       December 2016
Friend, this time of year is launched by giving thanks, punctuated by giving gifts and finished by giving toasts to our hopes for a new year. This special time full of love and hope inevitably draws many of us to join with our neighbors to make lives and communities better. Follow that feeling to a coat collection or sorting project with The Jersey Cares Coat Drive or make a child's wish come true as one of Frosty's Friends

The Jersey Cares Coat Drive
Help Jersey Cares collect and distribute more than 30,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women and children who need them throughout New Jersey.
Frosty's Friends
This year, Jersey Cares has received more than 3,000 letters with holiday wishes from children who may not otherwise receive any gifts this season. Help us spread some needed support and cheer by granting a child's wish as one of Frosty’s Friends.
Corporate Corner: Becton Dickinson
As they do every year, volunteers from Becton Dickinson -- more than 100 strong -- fanned out to volunteer at four locations in North Jersey. From bringing Halloween decor to Trinitas Regional Hospital to revitalizing Branch Brook Park in Newark, Halloween couldn't scare off the volunteers' commitment.
Take the Next Step - Be a Leader
Take volunteering to the next level and become a Project Coordinator! Project Coordinators lead Jersey Cares’ recurring volunteer opportunities and serve as a liaison between volunteers, our nonprofit partners and Jersey Cares. Project Coordinators commit to lead two or more projects per month for a minimum of six months. Please Visit our website or contact Amanda Naftaly to learn more.
December's Volunteer Star
What’s the best way to spend your 40th birthday? The answer, according to Nyree Miscia, is to embark on a 40-day journey to make a difference in any way possible.
ServiceWorks - Preparing Students for Careers and Life
Year three of our ServiceWorks program has kicked off and we are looking for volunteer Success Coaches and Skills Trainers to prepare students to succeed in life.

“6 more weeks?” one Scholar asked. “Can’t we extend it? Can’t we come back?” Our Scholars are growing and our Scholars want more.
