COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Yoga - No Yoga class this Saturday, December 2nd. Classes then resume for two more weeks, Saturday, December 9 and 16.  The Yoga class meets at the Church from 10:00 - 11:15 AM. Any questions contact the Instructor, Lois Howlett, at loishowlett2@gmail.com or tel 847-3055.
Students in upper-level ESOL classes at Portland Adult Education have created work for an exhibit about immigrant life in the Portland area. The exhibit will be on display at Portland City Hall December 6 -15. The exhibit includes profiles of local immigrant leaders, immigrant-owned businesses and organizations important to immigrants. Students also wrote about their own experiences moving to Portland from other parts of the world. Open Heart Sangha is renewing our annual Winter Solstice Celebration. It will be held on Monday, December 18th at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary at First Universalist and will follow our sitting and walking meditation. Our celebration will include music, poetry, and stories. We invite you to bring a favorite song, poem, or short story that has special meaning to you at this time of year. Included in the evening's festivities will be the lighting of candles and the ringing of bells. Please bring any bells that you have (some for sharing). The candles will be provided. Following the ceremony, we will have refreshments. Please bring your favorite finger food to share.  All are welcome!
Day of Hope is being organized by Sammy Potter, a senior at Yarmouth High School, and is a a TED-event style event at the high school, scheduled for Dec. 2nd, around the theme “What gives you hope?” The event features many Maine speakers, including the Mayor of Portland, a State Senator, Entrepreneurs, an Immigration Attorney, and others. Learn more.

Please note that Friday and Saturdays are typically her days off - Rev. Jennifer does not check email on these days, but will answer any crisis or emergency calls.
