Hi Friends!
First things first - last week's newsletter had an error in the tour calendar. *gnashes teeth and rends my garments* The St. George's Swizzle Stroll will ACTUALLY be on Mondays at 4PM, not whatever time Kristin In-the-Past had on there.
The first one will be NEXT WEEK MONDAY on the Remembrance Day Holiday! Would love to have you join the inaugural Stroll. Grab your crew, and come hang out with me and Neitra (our new Long Story Short. tour guide) to enjoy some swizzles around town.
It's a beautiful time to be in St. George's (aka St. Gorgeous!)... the harbour is absolutely full of sailboats and yachts #yachtwatch so whether you come for a tour with us, to hang out, shop, eat, or take selfies with the harbour in the background - make sure you take a visit to our town soon.
And, now that Halloween is over, we are officially gearing up for Christmas. (Mariah Carey makes the rules!) I was very excited to see the Corporation of St. George rigging up the wires to get ready for the holiday lights, and all of us are prepping for The Bermuda National Trust Christmas Walkabout, just 1 month away, on Friday, December 6.
At Long Story Short, we'll have special shopping events, improved online shopping, and a few new suppliers, so we are looking forward to being on your wish list!
See you soon!
Kristin
ps. Yes I am glued in to election day in the US so prepping this newsletter took way longer than it should have. Imma press send, then settle in!

NATIONAL BESTSELLER - NEW YORK TIMES EDITORS' CHOICE - A profound and beautiful (Marilynne Robinson) account of joy and sorrow from one of the great writers of our time, The New Yorker's Kathryn Schulz, winner of the Pulitzer Prize LONGLISTED FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD
Kathryn Schulz went to lunch with a stranger and fell in love. Having spent years looking for the right relationship, she was dazzled by how swiftly everything changed when she finally met her future wife. But as the two of them began building a life together, Schulz's beloved father--a charming, brilliant, absentminded Jewish refugee--went into the hospital with a minor heart condition and never came out.
Newly in love yet also newly bereft, Schulz was left contending simultaneously with wild joy and terrible grief. Those twin experiences form the heart of 'Lost & Found', a profound meditation on the families that make us and the families we make. But Schulz's book also explores how disappearance and discovery shape us all.

You Should Sit Down for This: A Memoir about Life, Wine, and Cookies | A lighthearted and supremely entertaining memoir, 'You Should Sit Down for This' is like spending the afternoon sharing tea, fresh baked cookies, and conversation with Tamera Mowry-Housley, the fun-loving, wisdom-sharing girlfriend we all need in our lives (always ready to top off your wine!). Most of us know Tamera Mowry-Housley as a beloved TV star--one half of the memorable duo on the hit show Sister, Sister and co-host of the FOX talk show The Real. Tamera's spunky Sister, Sister character stole the hearts of millions, but the transition in the public eye from teen-girl star to grown woman with a family and thriving career wasn't easy. | | | |

A New York Times Notable Book of 2022 * Vulture's #1 Memoir of 2022 * A Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA TODAY , Time, BuzzFeed, Publishers Weekly, Booklist, and New York Public Library Best Book of the Year
I am in a bar in Brooklyn, listening to two men, my friends, discuss whether my life is worth living. So begins Chloé Cooper Jones's bold, revealing account of moving through the world in a body that looks different than most.
Jones learned early on to factor pain calculations into every plan, every situation. Born with a rare congenital condition called sacral agenesis which affects both her stature and gait, her pain is physical. But there is also the pain of being judged and pitied for her appearance, of being dismissed as less than. The way she has been seen--or not seen--has informed her lens on the world her entire life.
