Stow Victim Advocate Coordinator
The Stow Victim Advocate Coordinator provides crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of crime and trauma from the Stow Municipal Court. This includes the surrounding jurisdictions of Boston Heights, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Macedonia, Munroe Falls, Northfield Village & Township, Peninsula, Reminderville, Sagamore Hills, Silver Lake, Stow, Tallmadge, and Twinsburg (City and Township)
Our Stow Victim Advocate Coordinator, Taylor, is trained to provide immediate crisis intervention, currently offered through electronic communications, and ongoing advocacy services. Advocacy is a critical and ongoing service provided to victims of crime and trauma. This can include: education on Marcy’s Law, as related to victim rights; the victims' role in the justice process; continued safety planning; education and support through court proceedings; and supporting victims as they rebuild their lives after a traumatic event.
By building trust and rapport, through collaborative community efforts, the Stow Victim Advocate Coordinator plays a vital role. Taylor, along with victim advocate interns, offers referrals to additional community resources that address potential client needs (housing, food/utilities, counseling, medical, legal), a compassionate ear to listen, and information that can help them navigate the aftermath of their victimization.
With the continued challenges VAP is facing due to COVID-19, Taylor has worked through it all, providing uninterrupted services to her clients. She works with clients via phone and attended countless meetings virtually. Taylor has maintained contact with Prosecutors and Stow Municipal Court personnel to work together to provide victims with the best possible services.

The Essentials of Victim Advocacy
Virtual Classroom

Join us online for this session of The Essentials of Victim Advocacy! We are please to share that we've developed a 100% digital curriculum to ensure the safety of our training team and our class participants, complete with a virtual classroom and recorded sessions.
Each student will receive an Essentials Student Home Care Box, equipped with everything you will need for the week!
During this virtual session, the same expert training team will teach you the tools needed to provide crisis intervention to individuals who have experienced trauma.
Enhance your skills with group practice role-play sessions with trained coaches. You will receive individual coaching and feedback to ensure that you are comfortable translating the knowledge learned during this session into practical applications!
Note: Participants are encouraged to register prior to December 18th to ensure that the Essentials Student Home Care Box arrives prior to the first day of the session.

ANGEL TREE CEREMONY

Victim Assistance Program’s Annual Angel Tree Ceremony was held virtually on Monday, December 7, 2020. The virtual format allowed community members, friends, and family members of homicide victims to safely come together to honor the memory of over 1,000 victims lost in Summit County due to violence over the last 25 years.
The Angel Trees and the Wall of Remembrance will be displayed at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 South High Street in Akron, throughout the month of December. Family members and friends are encouraged to visit the display to view their loved ones’ angel ornaments, which have been placed on the trees with care, by Victim Assistance Program advocates.
