Roger B. Handberg is a shareholder at GrayRobinson. Prior to joining GrayRobinson, Handberg served as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida from 2021 to 2025. He was a career federal prosecutor,
joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2002, and he served in various senior positions within the office, including as Criminal Chief (North), Chief of the Orlando Division, and Senior Litigation Counsel. During his career with the office, Handberg specialized in the investigation and prosecution of public corruption and white-collar crime cases. As part of his practice, he successfully prosecuted more than $500 million in fraud cases.
In December 2021, Handberg was appointed as United States Attorney by order of the Attorney General, and he was reappointed by the Chief Judge of the United States District Court in April 2022. The President nominated Handberg for the position in September 2022, and he was confirmed by the United States Senate in December 2022.
As United States Attorney, Handberg was the chief federal law enforcement officer for the second largest district in the country by population. Under his leadership, the U.S. Attorney’s Office increased its number of criminal cases by more than 60% over the past three fiscal years.
Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Handberg served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Economic Crimes Division for the Office of the Florida Attorney (Tallahassee) and as a litigation associate at King & Spalding (Atlanta). Handberg is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and Harvard Law School.
