The Trinity Quilt Guild has started a project to make simple lap-sized quilts to donate to Youth Services for the young people they serve. The quilt tops are made from pieces of material that are roughly 18” by 21” called fat quarters. After cutting pieces with dimensions of 18” by 10” (roughly 1/2 the fat quarters), the pieces are sewn together in columns and the columns then sewn together to create the quilt top.

If you would like to help with this project, we have assembled fat quarters and instructions. Pick up a quilt kit in the Great Hall and start sewing! If you have questions, please contact Nan Kemp at npkemp@cox.net.

Taize Services Offered Through November

A Taizé service in an Episcopal church setting is a contemplative, candlelit worship experience rooted in the prayer traditions of the Taizé community in France. It features simple, meditative chants, periods of silence, Scripture readings, and prayers for peace and healing.

The atmosphere is quiet and reflective, inviting participants into deep stillness and spiritual connection. In the U.S. Episcopal context, the service often takes place in the evening and may include icons, incense, and ambient lighting to create a sacred, peaceful space. It is open to all, regardless of background or belief.

The next Taize Service is July 13th at 5pm with potluck to follow.

Notice of Maintenance Issues

We want to inform you that our Maintenance Engineer is currently facing a serious illness and will require ongoing treatment. As a result, several maintenance concerns around the church have not yet been addressed. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to find appropriate solutions.

If any parishioners have experience in areas such as plumbing, woodworking, or general maintenance and would be willing to volunteer their time, please reach out to Canon Steve Carlsen at your earliest convenience: scarlsen@trinitytulsa.org.

Teenagers in need of volunteer hours over the summer are also encouraged to contact the church to explore opportunities to help.

VESTRY NEWS

At the June 22 Vestry meeting, the Vestry began with prayer and approval of the minutes of the last meeting. The Vestry heard a report from Fr. Bob on steps taken to address recent flooding and other building issues. The Vestry authorized entering into a contract with a new janitorial service. The Junior Warden, Michael Towner, reported on repairs to the HVAC system. The Treasurer, Harry Dandelles, reported that in May, net income was $7,269, which was $32,126 above budget because prepaid pledges were taken into income. Expenses were below budget. For the year to date, there has been a net loss of $25,522. Mr. Dandelles reported on the audit report received by the Parish from its outside auditors for 2024. The outside auditors did not identify any significant issues. The Vestry then approved the Treasurer’s Report. The Vestry discussed recent flooding issues. Mr. Towner and the Building and Grounds Committee will develop a comprehensive plan to address leaks and drainage issues and prevent future flooding, and identify possible experts to help develop the plan. The members of the Vestry signed a Vestry covenant setting out expectations for Vestry members and approved revisions to the personnel policies handbook. Based on the responses received concerning the combined services on Trinity Sunday, the consensus of the Vestry was to support combining the 9:00 and 11:00 services during July and August. The Vestry approved adding Archdeacon Bert and Deacon Deborah to the clergy discretionary fund account. The Vestry discussed the status of preparing for the rector search, the Parish survey, and preparation of a Parish Profile. The Vestry then went into executive session to hear reports from the Financial Sustainability Task Force. After the executive session and prayer, the Vestry adjourned. The Vestry held an additional special meeting on June 28 to continue considering the reports from the Financial Sustainability Task Force.
