A Season of Gratitude and Giving: A Message from the Executive Director

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." (Psalms 9:1)

As we reflect on Thanksgiving and embrace the joy of the upcoming Christmas season, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible community that surrounds and comprises Living Stones. This year has been transformative for our organization—a year of growth, learning, and making a greater impact.

In 2024, we saw Living Stones evolve in meaningful ways. We welcomed new team members, said goodbye to cherished colleagues as they retired or relocated, and adapted to changes that have made us stronger and more focused on our mission. But through every transition, one constant has been the unwavering support from our volunteers and donors. The belief in our work and the commitment to serving our neighbors in need have been the foundation of everything we’ve accomplished.

One of the highlights of this year has been the launch of an impactful new initiative: providing a hot lunch once a month to individuals actively facing substance use disorder and those in recovery. Made possible through our partnership with Fairhaven United Methodist Church, this effort not only meets physical needs but also fosters hope and belonging for so many. Now, we’re excited to also expand our Sunday meals further. Starting this month, we’ll serve warm meals and create fellowship on the first Sunday of every month at Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Pittsburgh’s South Side.

These initiatives reflect why supporting Living Stones is so important. Every meal we serve, every partnership we build, and every neighbor we reach helps to create a stronger, more compassionate community. Your contributions—whether through volunteering, donating, or sharing our mission—allow us to continue growing this vital work. Together, we can ensure that no one feels forgotten and that every individual has the opportunity to experience connection and hope.

This year, you have a unique opportunity to directly support the work we're doing by participating in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 3rd. Living Stones is proud to be registered with Pittsburgh Magazine's Give Big Pittsburgh, and by following this link, you can help us continue making a meaningful impact in our community.

Living Stones fosters the cultivation of relationships with neighbors who join us for meals. As relationships develop and deepen, Living Stones volunteers come alongside those individuals and families to assist them in navigating the challenges in their lives and encourage them to find hope in Christ as they learn to trust Him.
