District C Drive-Thru Food Pantries Cancelled This Week Due to Fourth of July Holiday

NEW ORLEANS Due to the closure of Second Harvest Food Bank in observance of the Fourth of July holiday, District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will not host food pantries this week. Food pantries scheduled in District C for Friday, July 3, at Arthur Monday Center and Saturday, July 4 at Holy Angels, are cancelled this week. Both food pantries will resume the following week. 

Councilmember Palmer partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Central Kitchen and Culture Aid NOLA to offer weekly meals and non-perishable food items for residents affected by COVID-19. Since March, the weekly food pantries in District "C" have provided more than  19,000 meals  and 20,000 food boxes for families across the city. 

Councilmember Palmer is reminding residents that there are food pantries available in Council Districts B and E this week. You can find the times and locations listed below.

New Orleans City Council
The New Orleans City Council is the legislative branch of New Orleans city government. The Council considers and enacts all local laws that govern the City of New Orleans. The Council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City, as recommended by the mayor, and continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations. The City Council is also the regulatory body for public utilities. It also reviews and has final say on many land use and zoning matters, as well as considers major economic development projects for the City. As a Board of Review for Orleans Parish, the Council examines appeals of property tax assessments for real estate taxes, and certifies tax rolls to the Louisiana Tax Commission. Other responsibilities of the Council include overseeing the operation of the public access television in Orleans Parish.
