NORTHEAST REGION REMINDER

Weekly Check-In
A Word of Encouragment:
Hello my dear ones,
Everything about this missive is identical to what you received earlier today EXCEPT I have updated the link for the list of parishes hosting live-streaming services. This should work now, and I commend the resource to you. No need to "miss" church this week with all the online offerings available. You don't even have to have Facebook accounts to watch! And...extra bonus points if you watch in your pj's.

I hope you are all staying healthy, or as healthy as can be. I pray that those of you that are recovering from any illness are getting the necessary care you need in the safest manner possible.

This is, and likely will continue to be, a very challenging time. Many of the ordinary everyday things that bring us comfort are no longer available to us. I want this weekly newsletter to be a space of encouragement and hope for you. While we cannot be face to face, we can be connected in a variety of ways.

As I am sure you know, none of the parishes in the NE Region are hosting in-person worship at this time. But that doesn't mean that there aren't worship services! Many of our parishes are offering live-streams on Facebook, which you can access during the actual live stream or at any time that is convienient for you. Often you don't even need to have a Facebook account to watch! Click here for a list of parishes hosting digital worship and click here for more information on ECCT's response to COVID-19. Some of our parishes are also offering Morning Prayer, Noonday Prayer, and/or Compline. Please make yourselves familiar with these resources in the days and weeks to come.

I also want you to know that you can always call me. My contact information can be found below. Reach out to your priest and/or wardens and check in - let people know that you are OK. If you need something, let someone know. Get a copy of your local parish directory and call someone; many parishes have set up buddy lists so that every parishioner can be in contact with at least one other person from their parish community. I encourage you to be in close contact. And while you are talking, be sure to share the good things that are happening.

If you think it would be helpful, I encourage you to keep a journal of this time. Record your feelings about what is happening, about what quarentine feels like, or about what it's like to have such an enormous disruption in your life.

I'll be sending out this little missive every week. I pray that it encourages you, supports you, and perhaps makes you laugh. We are in this together my friends!!

Social Isolation: Staying Connected & Having Fun
This is the space of possibility! A space where we have time to explore what we are curious about. A space where we can figure out how to find joy when we must be apart.

So..........here are some tools, tricks, and tips for bringing a little sunshine into your lives. All while keeping 6 feet away from each other. ;)

  1. Join the NE Region Facebook Group. Especially, because every once in a while I post silly videos of myself, like this one. Feel free to sing along.
  2. If you are able, go for a walk. The sun has been shining, and with loads of people out of work, there seems to be less traffic on our roads. Wave to your neighbors as you walk by.
  3. If you have young kiddos stuck at home: ECCT's very own Matt Cornish who is now living in the beautiful state of Maine and working for Camp Beech Cliff, is posting interactive camp videos HERE.
  4. Your local library might be closed, but I bet you (if you are like me) have a stack of books collecting dust on a long forgotten book shelf somewhere. I challenge you to dust off a book and start a new adventure!
  5. You know...self quarentine provides an excellant opportunity to deep clean your house. Think of the parties we can all host when we don't have to stay 6 feet apart! (I cleaned the top of my fridge the other day....gross)
  6. Pick up your phone and call someone you haven't talked to in a long time. Share a bad "dad joke" and see if you can get any laughs. Here's one.... Q: What is Irish and stays outside no matter the weather? A: Paddie O'Furniture (patio furniture)
