I’m a big reader and while I love a good novel, I’m also always on the lookout for books that guide and inspire my work with Leadership Council. I was delighted to see a familiar name come across my desk late last year with a new book just for us. In her new book, Chasing Success: The Challenge for Nonprofits, Dr. Judith Van Ginkel, founding president of Every Child Succeeds, brings us insights on positioning nonprofits as investment opportunities, creating accountability measures, and optimizing collaborations amongst like-minded nonprofits.
In collaboration with UC Publications, we invited Judy to sit down with us to discuss her book and answer your questions. I hope you can join us at Digital Futures on March 8 for this leader-to-leader conversation. Judy will be interviewed by Leadership Council past chair Jennifer Loeb, Chief Executive Officer, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati. Everyone will take home a book, which you can have signed by the author, and we’ll provide a light breakfast. This is the first event like this we’ve had, and this bookworm is looking forward to more! Register here.

Securing the Future Conference in April
|

|
As we shared last month, we're thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Kishshana Palmer to Cincinnati on April 26. The team is hard at work creating breakout sessions that connect to her talk and respond to topics you have told us you are interested in. We're also building in more time for the keynote and networking.
Thanks to these early-bird sponsors who are already on board:

Our first Mission Accomplished session welcomed two dozen board chairs and vice chairs to learn about their stepped-up role in board leadership. We were delighted to have so many early adopters for this new program. Here's what they said: "I very much appreciate the content, the timing (early in the year!) and the materials that you compiled for us. I feel significantly more prepared for my first year as a Board Chair and I am excited to put the content to work." We are so grateful for sponsor Clark Schaefer Hackett for joining us! We plan to repeat this program late in the year.

Any nonprofit in the region can complete the survey and receive a free copy of the results in late May. Please keep an eye on your email for a survey link from our partners at MRA. We're grateful to Von Lehman now Dean Dorton for sponsoring the study again this year!

To provide a more inclusive opportunity, we are bringing back a two-day version of our popular Leadership Challenge program (not including an overnight). Nonprofit leadership matters, and now is the perfect time to invest in the staff that will continue to lead your nonprofit through these uncertain times. Due to the generosity of our facilitator Steve Coats and Wiley Publishing, we can offer this program to your emerging leaders at a price far below market rate. We will offer our traditional overnight, three-day session at Camp Joy in September.
Apr. 26
Our annual come-one, come-all nonprofit conference will be held on April 26, 2024. Be sure to hold the morning on your calendar to learn and network with hundreds of nonprofit leaders. Registration will open in late February and breakout sessions will be announced soon.

Funding Opportunity
Each year, St. Timothy Catholic Parish awards six (6) grants to eligible nonprofit agencies in Kentucky whose services benefit the disadvantaged, housing challenged, food challenged, or agencies serving poverty level clients in the NKY area.
Each grant will award up to $3,000 for a project or item the agency is hoping to add. The application states all the exemptions and requirements the nonprofit must meet. To be eligible you do not need to be a Catholic organization but should follow the social, justice, and moral beliefs of the Catholic Church.
Applications must be returned to St. Timothy Parish no later than March 31, 2024. If you have any questions, contact Pat Seuberling, Director of Outreach, St. Timothy Parish, via email or at (859) 384-1100. More info about the grant criteria here.
