Unforgiveness in Relationship to Faith
One way we need to act like God is in the area of the love walk. We are consistently challenged with people, situations and things that can hinder us relative to our faith walk. The love walk is a walk of faith. Paul said, "Although I speak with the tongues of men and of angels," if I don't have love, I'm just making noise (1 Corinthians 13:1).
God has called us to live in a domain of love.
Luke 6:37 says, "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." Luke17:3 says, "If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him." Rebuke there simply means to correct him in love.
If we don't do this, we walk around irritated. Sometimes we can get irritated about one situation, and if we don't deal with it, it carries over to others. Galatians 5:6 says, "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love."
Second Corinthians 2:10-11 says: "Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices."
Satan wants you to hate and despise people, to never let go of offenses and to harbor bitterness, letting it fester on the inside.
When you're bothered, deal with it then. Don't wait five days. God must know something about our makeup since He has warned us that certain things will short circuit our faith. Unforgiveness won't kill you suddenly. It's a slow death. It gradually kills you spiritually. We can have some petty issues. Ask God to examine you and show you when you're being unforgiving.
God's forgiveness equates to forgetfulness. I serve a God who remembers my sins no more (Isaiah 43:25), and I will not remember your sins. Three things to remember:
a.)
God always forgives. b.) We must always forgive one another. c.) We must always forgive ourselves.
What should you do to forgive?
1. Never bring it up.
2. Never discuss it with anybody. God doesn't discuss your past sins with anybody.
3. Don't think on it.
The fruit of the spirit is love, so we have the capacity to walk in love the same way Jesus did. That demands that our spirits be dominant. We can't do this when our flesh, minds and emotions control us. Your spirit will tell you, "Don't think on that. Don't let the flesh stop you.
"
How to forgive:
- Make the decision. Humble yourself and drop it.
- Confess before God the sin of unforgiveness.
- Receive God's forgiveness for yourself.
- Forgive by faith; don't wait until you feel like it.
- Confess that you forgive the other person.
- Realize an unforgiving spirit is an outside attack, and it can release poison in your body.
- Don't allow your emotions to determine if you've forgiven.
- Rejoice that it's done.
- Treat the person, place or thing as if they are forgiven.

P. S. I have personal experience with this program. I worked as one of their counselors for several summers (Ms. Farmer). Great organization!
