Greetings!

Thank you for being a VGOF member!  If you have news or information that you think should be included in a future newsletter, please contact me - rick@vgof.net

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.  From the looks of the "Christmas Goodies" thread, I'd say that there are quite a few happy VGOF'ers out there!  We also set a record for simultaneous users on the site on Dec 26th with 187 users online at once!

Please check the articles below for information on area Gun Shows this weekend and developments in the forum.

I'd like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Rick Sandlin, VGOF Owner/Administrator

 VGOF Goes Mobile!

VGOF now has a mobile style that is presented to users visiting from mobile devices.  The mobile device browser is auto-detected by the forum software and the mobile style is automatically set for those devices.  The style does away with a lot of the page clutter and makes the forums more easily readable.

If you have a Blackberry or a Droid (any Android-based device), an iPhone, iPod, Play Station Personal (PSP) or other mobile device - go grab it right now and point its browser at http://VaGunForum.net!

You can view any of the forums and reply to threads.  There's a link to "New Posts", which comes in quite handy in both mobile and PC views.  You can check and reply to private messages, and the whole navigation setup is quite slick, if you ask me.

So, check it out, provide feedback - let me know what to improve.  It's still a work in progress, so take it easy on me.  :)

 Skidmark Trial 04 Jan 2011

Paul Henick will be going to trial at the Surry County Courthouse on January 4th, 2011 at 9am.  If you are close to the area (or even if you aren't!) please consider showing up to show your support for a man who is a firearm enthusiast, second amendment and open carry supporter.

Paul is charged with brandishing a firearm and obstruction of justice.  The brandishing charge was leveled by a supervisor at the Surry County Ferry who claims that he "felt threatened" when Paul pointed his finger at him and called him "You" during a discussion about the requirements for search at the ferry crossing.  Paul was open carrying at the time, but never made any kind of movement toward or reference to his firearm.  The obstruction charge was leveled by a Surry County deputy who asked Paul for his driver's license, although Paul was never operating a motor vehicle in the deputy's presence.  When asked for identification, Paul identified himself by name and provided his address, as required by law.

Mr. Henick is a strong supporter of our rights in Virginia including attendance at VCDL Lobby Day and many other VCDL functions as well as putting forth a good and responsible face for the Second Amendment and Open Carry movement.

Please consider helping Paul by contributing to his legal defense fund, either via Paypal or with a personal check or money order.  Every penny counts, and Paul deserves our help!

I had hoped to be personally present at the trial, but my job has come up with things to do on January 4th, so the best I can do is provide moral support here in our newsletter and financial support via the Paypal link above.  VGOF has contributed to his legal defense.

Good luck Paul!

I have started a VGOF CafePress shop that currently contains a couple of hats, a shirt and a couple of stickers with VGOF logos on them.  Every purchase helps to support VGOF.  Please let me know if you buy something and provide feedback regarding the quality of the item and how the logo looks, as I have not had a chance to preview all of these items personally.
