Hello friends,

Now that we are on week "who knows!" of the quarantine, we want to say again that we hope you are well, and we look forward to when we can be together at the Park.

We have heard from many of you that you are enjoying the new online programming, which expands this week to include a Washington Conservatory of Music virtual concert , a new online exhibition featuring the artwork of eight Veterans who have faithfully served our country , as well as a new Saturday Art Explorers Goes Virtual art project , and other virtual events.

Take care, stay safe, & #StayConnectedGEP

"Participate in this unique event to keep the light on for our love for tango, for live music, for friendship, and for life!"
VIRTUAL Social Dance
Tango Brillante , one of our wonderful dance presenting partners, brings you another mini concert this Sunday after their weekly virtual lesson.

Heyni Solera is just back from Buenos Aires where she played with several tango orchestras. In the Washington, DC area, she is a dedicated and energetic member of Arco & Aire duo and the Da Capo Tango Orchestra.

Although this event is free and everyone is encouraged to participate, they are suggesting a donation of $5 for the guest musician.

NEW Exhibition Opens Tomorrow: Transforming Voices

Transforming Voices presents the work of eight Veteran Artists who have facilitated transformative papermaking workshops as part of the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore and Community Building Art Work’s programs at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital. The techniques are rooted in papermaking and have grown to encompass disciplines such as painting, photography, printmaking, fiber art and book binding, and also include written word and poetry. This exhibition is representative of a growing Veteran Art Movement in the United States.
Organizations presenting these Veterans workshops include:
ONLINE Glen Echo Glassworks
The prestigious Glass Arts Society selected Glen Echo Glassworks artists Paul Swartwood , Mark Hill , and Phil Valencia to demonstrate specialized glassblowing techniques at the Annual Meeting in Sweden this month.

Of course, the conference could not take place in person, so their live demonstration turned into a video presentation.

On Saturday, you can watch them delve into the amazing techniques of mid-century Swedish glass.

This exceptional opportunity and international exposure exemplifies the growing success of the glass arts program at Glen Echo Park.
** The presentation link goes live at 10am PT/1pm ET on Saturday. Scroll down the page to find "HOT GLASS Keeping Mid-Century Swedish Glass Techniques Alive in a Small Maryland Studio"
