Vision of a Hawai‘i Public School Graduate

Asst. Supt. Elizabeth Higashi's Presentation

Elizabeth presented a new draft of the Hawaii Public School graduate vision to a small group, highlighting key changes including a focus on partnership with families and communities, and emphasizing lifelong learning and local commitment. She shared insights from student focus groups, noting that while many students see leaving Hawaii as necessary for success, those with strong community connections are more likely to stay or return.

Our group discussed the vision's emphasis on wellness, empathy, and post-secondary education, with Elizabeth inviting feedback on the draft before presenting it to the board.

Parents for Public Schools of Hawai‘i and HE‘E members were impressed by the amount of student input Beth has gathered.
