Warren Philharmonic Orchestra Concert

Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 7:00 PM

 

The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra Spring 2025 Concert will be held at the Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Dr., Cortland, OH 44410, on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at 7:00 PM. 


Youngstown State University Youth Orchestra is opening the concert. Please note the change of venue for this concert!

 

The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra will play the following:

  • Overture to William Tell” by Gioachino Rossini,
  • An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli
  • Escapades for Alto Saxophone, Vibraphone, Bass and Orchestra by John Williams.
  • The concert will conclude with Symphony No. 5, in C Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven.


Dr. Christopher M. Cicconi, Conductor and Music Director of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra notes: “The Warren Philharmonic’s second concert of the season, entitled HOMAGE, has music for everyone! From the excitement of Rossini’s ‘William Tell’, to the reflective undertones of Ticheli’s ‘American Elegy’, to the invigorating adventures of Williams' ‘Escapades’, and to the emotional triumphant of Beethoven’s monumental ’Symphony No. 5’, this concert will take you one a journey of emotions that’s certain to move the soul. We hope you will join us for what will be a concert to remember!” 

 

The following soloists will be performing during the “Escapades for Alto Saxophone, Vibraphone, Bass and Orchestra” by John Williams.

 

Maximilian Dimoff is the principal bassist of The Cleveland Orchestra and a faculty member at The Cleveland Institute of Music. Dimoff has performed as soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra at home and abroad. Mr. Dimoff performs on a double bass made by Antonio Mariani dated 1651.

 

Dr. Matthew Holm is Director of Percussion Studies at Kent State University where he has revitalized the percussion program in all facets since 2017. Described as “…performing with unerring security” (Cleveland Classical), and “…an outstanding musician” (Percussive Notes), Holm is equally in demand as a chamber player and orchestral musician. Under Holm’s direction the KSU Percussion Ensemble has been selected to perform at OMEA in 2020, 2022, and 2023 and has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Conventions in 2017, 2019, and 2023.

 

Dr. James Umble is Professor of Saxophone at Youngstown (Ohio) State University where he has twice been awarded a Distinguished Professor Award for Teaching. He is an internationally recognized teacher, soloist, clinician, chamber musician and author. Cleveland Plain Dealer Music Critic Donald Rosenberg wrote that Dr. Umble…” must be one of the most elegant exponents of his instrument…he was virtuosic in every way.”.
