School Nutrition Services Dietetic Practice Group Convenes at DNO Produce

The School Nutrition Services Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics held their annual spring meeting at DNO Produce. Throughout their visit, the group toured our FRESHEALTH production floor, explored our SnackTime Explorers food education program, and shared key challenges facing today’s school nutrition professionals. These conversations are essential to deepening our impact by helping us better support our partners in delivering fresh produce to students.

475 lbs of Fresh Produce Donated at Annual Fresh-Cut Food Drive

Throughout the month of December, DNO pledged to donate 3lbs of produce for every unique donation made to 90.5 FM WCBE radio station. This month, we made good on our promise with the help of the wonderful team at The City of Columbus Parks and Recreation.

We gathered at Woodward Park Community Center to donate 475 lbs. of produce throughout the day. We had a wonderful time connecting with each other and giving back to the community.

Meet Our May Brocc Star

Rosenie Jean is our Cooler Lead on the FRESHEALTH team, and this month's Brocc Star! She's being recognized for her leadership and work ethic.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective's Tee-Rific Fundraiser

We were invited to attend Mid-Ohio Food Collective's "Drive Out Hunger" event at Topgolf Columbus. Between swings, we were reminded of the shared community throughout mid-Ohio dedicated to ending hunger.

As summer gears up, we're preparing to pay our FRESHEALTH employees to spend their shifts at MOFC. Last summer, our partnership resulted in over 2,600 volunteer hours and 111,000 meals for children who have otherwise experienced hunger during the summer months.

Alex DiNovo Invited to Emcee IFPA's Consumer Connection Conference

As the Foundation for Fresh Produce's former chair, Alex was proud to shepherd an important event which unites produce industry leaders and consumer-facing experts for the larger mission of shaping consumer behavior toward a healthier and produce-forward future.

This Month's Fresh Read

We’re excited to share a recent feature from Novolex highlighting our partnership with Eco-Products to bring environmentally conscious solutions to K-12 school cafeterias!

Together, we’ve developed a compostable packaging option for fresh-cut produce, a 4 oz. molded fiber cup with a plant-based lidding film that meets BPI and ASTM composability standards. This innovation supports schools’ growing need for pre-portioned options that are both convenient and planet friendly.
