Helping Others

111 Project Service Project

The Next Stop has not been able to participate in this beloved service project since the fall of 2019. We were able to bring it back this past Nov/Dec. This project brings the fun of tie-dying pillowcases, the challenge of threading a tie through the pillowcases to create cinch bags and the feeling of happiness knowing someone in need will use them.

111 Project in Georgia is dedicated to serving children in the foster system. The Next Stop was able to tie-dye and make 77 bags. Forty five of the bags were filled with clothing items for teenagers by Next Stop members and families, volunteers and staff and then donated to 111 Project.

From Hunger to Hope

Service Project

The Next Stop has participated in this project many times, but not since 2019. We were happy to be back packing meals to feed hungry children through Feed My Starving Children. Sixteen members and their families packed a total of 774 manna packs that will feed 26 children for one year.

Being a part of such a service project helps our members know they can contribute and make a positive impact in our world.

Who Helps Us

NGHS Art Students

North Gwinnett High School National Art Honor Society students are welcomed guests at The Next Stop. Their visit in January, 2023 also marked a return to something we've missed since the pandemic. Led by their teacher Dallas Gillespie, they planned and introduced an art project for our members. This time it was making a "God's Eye" with yarn and 2 small sticks. Students moved around the room helping where needed.

Our members love meeting and interacting with new people as well as creating art. Having community support like this is invaluable. Thank you students for your time and efforts on our behalf.

An Unexpected Gift

Sometimes it pays to be lucky! The Next Stop knows we are lucky to have 2 awesome volunteers Vicki and Dave Hobbs. But besides that, they entered The Next Stop in a random drawing held quarterly by Sugarloaf Wealth Management. Our name was pulled for the last quarter of 2022. Their initiative "Sugarloaf Gives" donates money to nonprofits who have been nominated by their clients. Thank you Vicki & Dave AND Sugarloaf Gives!

Coming Soon!

The Next Stop is excited to announce the creation of The Next Stop Neighborhood -- a safe online platform where adults with special needs can engage, connect, and access daily activities for both learning + leisure. Stay tuned for more information about this innovative venture and our effort to serve the adult special needs community in a new way.
