THIS WEEK AT ST. ROSE SCHOOL
Dear St. Rose School Families:

This week has been short but sweet. We are still feeling the love from Valentine's Day and reaping the rewards of a long weekend to restore our energy. At this point in the year the students have settled in nicely to the daily routine and every grade level is working diligently on its lessons with good results.

We heard some very exciting news this week -- Mrs. B's Fourth Grade class has received the "People's Choice" Award from the Knights of Columbus for getting the most votes in favor of their Christmas tree. 26 classes from around the state were invited to decorate a tree in the theme "Christmas in Poland," and display it at the K of C Museum in New Haven, CT for December and January. The voting closed on February 3rd and Mrs. B received the wonderful news as well as an official certificate from the Knights this week. I know you join me in congratulating Mrs. B, Mrs. Locke and the Fourth Grade class for their sensational work.

In last week's newsletter I mentioned that we had a day of fun and learning as winners of the Faculty raffle assumed key positions in the school. Mrs. Wong's role was covered by Second grader Jack Monckton who kept the office humming while Adrianna Kari from the Fourth grade did a remarkable job as Principal for the day. This got me thinking that we should all step in to someone else's shoes every once in a while to get a real sense for what others experience in their days.

I have had the privilege of meeting some St. Rose School alumni since becoming Principal and it is always edifying to hear them speak about their time here. No matter when they graduated -- as far back as the 1970's or as recently as the past two years -- these alumni refer to St. Rose School as a family. All say they were more than prepared for high school and that their experiences here, from classroom learning to athletic events to enrichment activities, made them well rounded people and laid a strong foundation for their future school, career and life choices. I know that some of our current parents were once students here and that speaks volumes. Bringing the past and present together, we are steering a course toward a bright future and I am so pleased to be a part of the St. Rose School family.

Thanks to all who have registered for the 2019-2020 school year. It is our sincere hope to continue this journey together and give our current families first priority in the enrollment process. As I mentioned previously, we have identified three classes with potential waiting lists so if you haven't had a chance to register yet, we kindly ask you to do so by March 4th. You can click here to register now. I f you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Karen Coppola, our Admissions Director, admissions@srles.com. I am also available to meet. Please contact Mrs. Wong, secretary@srles.com, to schedule a date and time. Thank you.

We are heading in to a busy Spring. The annual Golf Classic will take place on May 22nd and we are hoping for a wonderful turnout. The proceeds go directly to our school to assist with a variety of needs and programs. This year we are also holding a Tuition Raffle with a grand prize of $15,000 that can be applied to the educational institution of choice and the odds will be pretty good. Our planning committee is hard at work on the details and will share them with you shortly. We hope all school families will participate in the raffle as the monies raised go to a cause close to all of our hearts...St. Rose School!

This weekend our girls and boys basketball teams will be playing in a end of season tournament at Immaculate High School. We hope you can come out to support them -- you can find game details in Athletics News below.

Enjoy your weekend.

God Bless,

Mr. Bardhyl Gjoka
Principal

HSA NEWS

Dear Friends:

Believe it or not, March is right around the corner and with it, warmer weather (hopefully!) and Spring Uniforms. If your kids are like our kids, there is no guarantee that what fit them in October will still fit come April. Plan ahead and stock up on Lands End gift cards through our Scrip program. Lands End rebates a generous 15% back to St. Rose school and while your child is looking great in their well-fitting uniform, you can feel great about the contribution you just made by purchasing through Scrip! Please email  scrip@srles.com  to place your order for Lands End gift cards!

Also keep in mind our Uniform exchange. We have an array of like-new uniforms in all sizes available...simply let us know what you need! You can reach us at  uniforms@srles.com  and we'll let you know if we have your child's size available.

Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming tuition raffle. We are very excited to be launching this new fundraising initiative and even more excited with how many options it provides for use by the lucky winner(s). We hope to sell 350 raffle tickets and will need your help sharing this fundraising news with your family and friends.

We wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!

SCRIP GROCERY PROGRAM

Got groceries?

Everyone needs to eat and by purchasing gift cards to local grocery stores to do your food shopping you can make a HUGE difference.

Here’s the math . . .

Most stores offer an average 5% rebate to our HSA, so based on one family:

$400/month (that’s $100 a week!) x 12 months = $4800
That’s a $240 rebate per year for ONE FAMILY!

With all 180 families participating . . .
$240 x 180 = $43,200!!!!!

Can you IMAGINE what we could do with an extra $43,200 that is not costing anyone anything additionally?

We are looking to make this number a reality. We have done this by creating a monthly grocery program that is so user friendly everyone would be happy to use it!

First, complete the simple form (attached) with your bi-weekly or monthly order (which store and how much) and send in with your check.

We will fulfill the order on the 1st and/or 15th of the month.

We will email you on the 7th and 21st (bi-weekly) or 21st (monthly) of the month asking if you’d like your standing order and reminding you to please send in the check.

This is not a ‘binding’ program- we realize some months fluctuate. You are not obligated to use the service every month though it is greatly encouraged and appreciated!

We are willing and able to do all the legwork to make this $43k a reality- all we ask of you is to fill out the form, send the check and keep replying ‘yes!’

Who is willing to take the plunge and be one of the first members of our Scrip Grocery Program?

Please contact The SRS Scrip Team at  scrip@srles.com  with questions. We are here to help!

Let’s do this SRS parents! #onourwayto43k
