Volume XII| November 2, 2018

Dear St. Rose School Families:

Joyful is a word that describes life in our halls this week. News that St. Rose School had collected 240 (two thirds of the total number) coats for the Knights of Columbus Coat drive warmed my heart and reminds us that being kind to others is one of the most important lessons we can teach and implement in our lives. Our students are wonderful ambassadors of kindness and hope. We appreciate your contributions to the school wide Thanksgiving Food Drive as well. Collection bins are in every classroom through November 8th.

Halloween put everyone in happy spirits. You cannot help but smile when a parade of Preschoolers wearing an array of colorful costumes wave and shout "Happy Halloween". Enthusiastic teachers demonstrated their spirit as well creating a very upbeat atmosphere throughout the school that day.
I am grateful to all of the parents who dedicated time and effort to making the celebrations exciting and memorable.

All Saints Day was another special celebration as we gathered with our parish community for a beautiful mass. Fifth graders sang and 8th graders served the mass most reverently. Seventh grader Evie Komninakas shared her report about Saint Barbara, highlighting the significance of having such faithful and valiant role models.

Our Basketball teams are starting their official season this weekend with the Harvest Tournament. Please come out and cheer for them. You can find the game schedule in the Athletic News section below.

The first quarter has officially closed and we look forward to seeing you at Parent/Teacher conferences the week of November 12th. I invite you to attend the HSA meeting on Thursday November 8th, 6:30-7:30 PM to hear important information about the state of our school. Many positive things have been accomplished since the school year started and other initiatives are underway. Every member of our community is vital to the school's ongoing success so please make every effort to join us that night. I want to hear from you! If there is particular topic you would like addressed at the meeting, kindly send it ahead to hsa@srles.com. Thank you.

We have a busy week ahead including the installation of a "Be Kind" mural by Ben's Bells on Monday and Tuesday. This is a gift to St. Rose School from the Class of 2018 who have lovingly created the tiles
that will be used for the mosaic. It will be placed on the brick wall (left side) in the entry vestibule to remind everyone of this important message. We are very thankful to the Class of 2018 students and their families for this most thoughtful and lasting gift.

Next Friday (11/9) the Knights of Columbus are hosting a Veteran's Day Assembly for the school at
1:00 PM in the Gathering Hall. This will be a beautiful and fitting tribute to the men and women who have served our country. We will hear some of their stories and have the opportunity to ask questions and give them our personal thanks. You are more than welcome to join us for the Assembly; please RSVP to the school office.

A reminder that Tuesday is Election Day therefore school will be closed. The faculty will be attending a Professional Development session that day. Enjoy your time off and please exercise your right to vote.

Have a lovely weekend and remember that we "fall back" an hour on the clock Saturday night.

God Bless.
