THE WAR ROOM
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16, NLT
Do you remember the popular movie, The War Room? It tells the story of a disillusioned wife whose marriage was on the brink of divorce, until she prayed fervently with an older Christian woman to help her save it.
Like the disillusioned wife, I have begun praying with an older Christian woman to help me deal with the various issues my children face every day. I pray with this woman because she prayed for her son during his elementary years, and continued praying for him through his rebellious years as a teenager, and after he became an adult. She has told me if it wasn't for her fervent prayers, her son might not be alive today, and reminds me each time we meet not to discount the
power I have available through prayer.
The Bible talks about the supernatural power of prayer and how it can makes a difference in the lives of our children. For example, Lamentations 2:19 encourages mothers to lift up their hands in prayer and to plead for their children. Matthew 18:18 reminds mothers that whatever
they ask God, on behalf of their children, to bind on earth, will be bound in heaven. James 5:16
reminds
mothers to pray earnestly for their children because their prayers produce great results in the eyes of God.
As a mother, whether you choose to pray individually or collectively for your children,, don't ever
underestimate the power of prayer, for
your prayers "invite and ignite both the presence and power of God."
