Dr. Cortest will speak at Shabbat morning services on
"The Expulsion of Spanish Jewry
and its Aftermath"
Dr. Luis Cortest is Professor of Spanish at the University of Oklahoma and, from 1992 till 1999, served as its Chair of the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics .
Professor Cortest studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid before he was awarded a Ph. D. in Medieval Hispanic literatures at the University of California, Berkeley.
His principal interests include: Spanish religious writers of the sixteenth century, Medieval Spanish literature, the history of Spanish Scholasticism and Natural Law Theory. He has written numerous books on these topics.
The community is invited to hear this distinguished scholar speak on these fascinating topics.
