Greetings!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! My wife Cynthia and Me love the Christmas season with all the beautiful lights, decorations and reason for the season! Jesus is the reason for the season and just like His birth, it is a season of miracles. Miracles are for today and for you. Receiving Jesus Christ is the first miracle you can receive from God and it's called the New Birth or being Born Again.
THE NEW BIRTH
The reason Jesus taught us about being Born Again John 3:3 is because sin had separated man's spirit from God. That is what sin does, it Separates from God and brings death along with it. There are 3 kinds of death as recorded in the Bible; Spiritual; Physical and Eternal (Or, the Second Death). Adam and Eve are the one's who opened the door for Spiritual death to come into the earth. Remember that DEATH, in the Bible, means separation not termination OR cessation. Man's spirit by sin has been separated from God and therefore MUST receive a New Birth in order to have his relationship with God restored. (See John 3:3,7; Romans 5:12; 1 Peter 1:23; Romans 3:23; 5:8 & 6:23). Physical death is the result of man's original sin. God never meant for man to die. His intention was for man to live forever in the body He gave them at the time they were created. The same is true for all of mankind, but sin brought the process of death physically to man which violated God's original intent. ETERNAL Death OR the Second Death is what Revelation 2:11; 20:6, 14; and 21:8 is speaking about! This is the worst possible scenario for an individual who has refused Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Dr. Edwin Louis Cole saiid, "When someone refuses Christ they rob heaven of their presence even though God wants them there."
THERE IS HOPE
The Christmas season is a reminder that there is hope for all of mankind and that sin has been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice and when one receives Him as their personal Lord and Savior things change. Some changes are instant, like your sins being forgiven and cast into the sea of God's forgetfulness. Also you become instantly righteous in your human spirit with Jesus' righteousness according to 2 Corinthians 5:17 & 21. Once a person is cast into the Lake of Fire though they are eternally lost and all hope of salvation has been forfeited forever. Whether one ends up in heaven or hell is NOT up to God but to the individual based on their own personal choices to receive OR reject God's gracious gift of His only begotten Son!
