Minister's Musings

Dear friends,

Holy Week is here. I have to admit that I love the events of Holy Week; it is admittedly a lot. There are so many details that go into a successful Holy Week, from the Spiritual Life Committee planning what happens right after the New Year, to Paul`s amazing chancel decor, and all the beautiful music. By Easter Sunday, we are all tired out but the results are worth the effort. It's been a long, cold winter. By far, the most aggressive winter we have had since I have lived in London. And while I do enjoy winter and all the fun that it brings, I am really looking forward to blue skies, flowers and the general coming back to life that the world does right about now. Even if it means I need my allergy medicine again!

Easter reminds us that even when the world is at its lowest, Spring is just around the corner. The coldest, darkest winter days can`t stop the birds and warmth of Spring from arriving eventually.

So no matter the winter of your life, remember the promise of Easter faith! We are an Easter people, a people who believe that life is stronger than death, love is stronger than hate, and hope will always win in the end. Even Paul, writing from prison, reminded the early church (and us) that in the worst of situations, God is present and love will always win the day.

Remember the power of this week to help us reset the world around us as we hold fast to the hope and joy that Easter brings!

Introducing our New Members

Evelyn Striegl

Evelyn is a German Canadian who emigrated to Canada with her husband and 6-month-old son in 1962, six months after the Berlin wall was built. She and her husband settled in Burlington initially. After her divorce, she remarried and, with her new husband, settled in London. She is now widowed with 2 grown children and a stepdaughter. Her family lives out of town.

After meeting Rev. Rob at the German club, Evelyn attended the German service at Wesley -Knox. The aesthetics of the sanctuary reminded her of churches in Germany and helped her feel at home. She especially liked Rev. Rob’s preaching which she describes as “ down to earth and real”. Liz Milne, Cindy and Lauren Milne- Wren have helped her get to know Wesley Knox.

Spring Collection for the

London Food Bank

The LFB collection cart will be to the side of the sanctuary for 3 weeks starting Sunday April 12 to Sunday April 26.

Loonies for Lent

The London AfroCentric Arts Association for the Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica and Connecting Gaza, to help families in Gaza who are struggling to survive.

Immigration and Citizenship e- Petition 7195

You may be aware that individuals and communities are significantly at risk in the US. The current administration is trying to erase and outlaw LGBQT+ individuals, causing increased persecution and violence for many. Anti - Transgender legislation has been passed in two states, with another 689 bills under consideration across the US. A change in Canadian immigration policy can help.

Please consider signing a House of Commons, Citizenship and Immigration electronic petition e-7195 that is available for signing. E- petition wording follows: We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to alter the rules surrounding Canada’s LGBQT+ definition as the United States as a “safe third country” to make an allowance for American residents to file refugee claims to Canada for protection from imminent prosecution and potential violence simply for being themselves. The link to the e-petition can be found by an internet search for House of Commons e-7195. E- 7195 is open for signing until June 25, 2026

London Clean and Green: 20-Minute Makeover, Friday, April 17, 2026

Climate Action: Could you organize a 20 min clean up at your business, school, or neighbourhood to pick up litter and help keep plastics out of the Thames River? Start by adding your project to the map. Gloves and garbage bags, as well as arranging pick up of what is collected, are available from the city upon request.
