Last Sunday's Service

On Sunday, Sept. 15th,

the Northmont family will worship at the

North Park Lodge @ 11am,

located at N. Ridge Dr, Allison Park, PA 15101.

(this venue is ADA accessible)

The Deacons will provide:

meat, beverages, desserts, and all paper products.

The congregation is invited to bring a yummy picnic side to share, lawn chairs (if you wish), and your favorite games (think cornhole, badminton, etc).

Kids and teens will lead us in a craft project.

Dress is casual. Bring your friends and neighbors! It will be a fun morning of worship, food, and fellowship.

The Deacons look forward to seeing you there!

(Please make note of the later worship time

and the change of venue from last year.)

Directions to the Lodge at North Park,

coming from Northmont Church:

From the intersection of E Ingomar Road and Kummer Road turn left on Kummer Road then immediately turn right on Walter Road. Bear left at the Y heading up Walter Road. Continue up the hill past Parish Hill and down the other side and continue to Pearce Mill Road. Turn left on Pearce Mill Road and bear right at the skating rink onto North Ridge Drive. Follow North Ridge Drive up and around and the Lodge will be on your left where the water tower is.

Anyone coming from a different direction can just enter North Park Lodge into your GPS and it will direct you.

NORTHMONT’S DINING OUT GROUP will enjoy dinner at

IL Pizzaiolo (701 Warrendale Village Drive, Warrendale)

on Monday, September 16 at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please text or call Sarah Jane (412-952-0662) to be included in the reservation. Thank you.

BOOK GROUP will meet on Saturday Sept. 21 at 9:30am

in the Berean Room. All are welcome. The first meeting will be to set up the schedule and readings for the upcoming year.  The group will then meet every third Saturday of the month through May.

New Front Sign Project

As you may have heard, session has approved new signage for the front of the church and the order for the project has been placed. Here are some details on the project:

Team:

Ted Mills (Project Mgr.), Rev. Ben Robbins, Bonnie Elphinstone, Julia Zurbach

Deliverables:

2-Sided 3’ x 8’ Programmable Digital Sign

2-Sided 3’ x 8’ Fixed LED Sign with Church Name

New Electrical Power Feed

Schedule:

Ordered: August 30

Sign Delivery Est: 6 weeks from order placement

Installation & Completion Est : 7 weeks from order placement

Cost & Funding:

Cost: Approx. $25,000 (fully installed)

The majority of funding will be from already in-hand donations. The remainder will come, as necessary, from the Major Repairs and Maintenance account, but the hope is that, instead, the remaining amount can be raised by a combination of additional individual donations and possibly from the Memorial Fund.

Picture:

The attached photo is the vendor’s rough estimate as to what the signs will look like. Final design of the top sign is in the works and the digital sign originally considered was 4’x8’, so we’ve blocked off the bottom of the sign in the picture to show the 3’x8’ sign that has been purchased.

Request – Please consider helping the project with a donation:

We hope that everyone shares our enthusiasm for the new sign and our hope and expectation that the sign will increase our visibility and effective reach to our community and to those otherwise unfamiliar with our church. If you do share these sentiments, we ask that you would consider making a donation to the project, making it out to the church and designating it for the “New Front Sign”.

For additional information on the project, please contact Ted Mills (412-364-4002 or millsfam78@gmail.com)

Clef Notes

Chancel Choir is back in the chancel on Sunday. Please be sure to welcome them. We sing a rousing setting of Psalm 150 — O Praise God in His Holiness by English mid-20th-century composer, Felton Rapley.

Handbells will continue to be on hiatus for the time being due to various scheduling conflicts. We look forward to their return soon.

Both choirs are in need of new members. If you are interested in either, please speak to me after the service or send an email. Bells typically practice on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30. Chancel Choir from 6:30-8:30.
