Greetings!

I am one proud pastor! Last Sunday, we witnessed an amazing time of worship with our celebration of Dia de los Muertes! Someone asked me after worship just how much planning went into our celebration; well, it was A LOT! I want to thank the Creative Worship Teams from both services for all their visioning and planning; Cesar Maldonado for creating the altar inside and the decorations outside; Tonia Luna for working with Louis Ramirez to coordinate the music; Sandra Contreras for the exceptional video; Larry Rodriguez for setting up the movie for us to view after worship; Pastor Bam Noriega for providing the "birthday cake" after worship; and Pastoral Leader Raul Radilla for leading the service and securing Alejandra Flores and Ted Owens to provide the drama. It was all just amazing!

I hope you took time this week to "Vote Your Faith!" I know we all have our favorites, and sometimes they all win elections. No matter who is in office, our work for justice is never finished. Our church, indeed, our whole denomination, is built on a personal relationship with Christ, community, and social justice. We will continue to build on that foundation as long as we live!

This Sunday, we will continue our Stewardship Sermon Series with an emphasis on Time and Talents. Between the two services is our Annual Fall Congregational Meeting, where we will vote on our annual budget. I hope you will be present for this important meeting, as your voice counts. For worship and for our meeting, let's come with an attitude of prayer and joy for all the blessings God has given us at FMCC/ICMF.

Pastor Keith

Reading is taken from I Peter, Chapter 4, Verses 10 through 11

(The Voice Version)

10 Use whatever gift you’ve received for the good of one another so that you can show yourselves to be good stewards of God’s grace in all its varieties. 11 If you’re called upon to talk, speak as though God put the words in your mouth; if you’re called upon to serve others, serve as though you had the strength of God behind you. In these ways, God may be glorified in all you do through Jesus the Anointed, to whom belongs glory and power, now and forever. Amen.

With the ICE, Homeland Security, and Border Patrol raids occurring so frequently here in Los Angeles, we at FMCC/ICMF realize the fear that many of our congregants have in leaving their homes. We are initializing an immediate ministry called, ANGELS. This ministry is for those who may be fearful of going to the grocery store, the pharmacy, and the department store and need to reach out to an ANGEL for help. It is also for people who may be willing to run these errands (for those too fearful to leave home currently) to let us know you're willing to BE an ANGEL. So, if you need an ANGEL, or if you're willing to be an ANGEL, please contact us at care@mccla.org and we'll match you up if at all possible.

Join CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice) and other social justice groups who have been gathering weekly in Los Angeles to pray for the return of family members who have been detained or deported.

We invite people of all genders to accompany them and hold our disappeared community members in prayer. We are hurting along with them, and we have their backs.

This vigil takes place every Tuesday, Noon at the Los Angeles Federal Building.

Covid-19 Protocols

As we continue to cope with Covid-19, we are changing our protocols. The new protocols are in line with the rest of LA County. Until further notice, here are our guidelines:

1. We will no longer require vaccinations and boosters for church attendance, though we highly encourage them.
2. We will make wearing masks optional. Please feel free to continue wearing masks as you feel comfortable.

3. We ask people that have symptoms of (or tested positive for) Covid, flu, monkeypox, or any other easily communicable disease to please refrain from attending until they are well.

As we have from the very beginning of the pandemic, we will continue to keep in line with the advice of the LA County Public Health Department. Thank you so much for your patience as we navigate new guidelines.
