WHAT IS EXPERIENTIAL CALVINISM?
by Ian Hamilton

"It is not every Christian book (or booklet in this case) that you read and find that nearly every line and thought are gems that urge you to stop reading and ponder and worship the living God of grace! But this is such a book! In a short compass, Ian Hamilton has wonderfully captured the experiential heart of true Calvinism: 'deeply affectional, God-centered, cross-magnifying.' In a word, this is an essay deeply needed by all who call themselves Calvinists-and even all those who do not!" - Michael A. G. Haykin

"There is no such thing as 'dead Calvinism,'" writes author Ian Hamilton. Calvinism, simply put, is biblical Christianity. No mere human devised theological system, Calvinism is rooted in and shaped by God's revelation in Holy Scripture. Hamilton asserts that Calvinism is "natively experiential." In What Is Experiential Calvinism?, the author shows us that Calvinism is far richer and more profound than five points and helps us see that the lives and ministries of those who are true Calvinists pulse with living, Spirit-inspired, Christ-glorifying, God-centered truth.

CHRIST IS ALL IN ALL: The Gospel in the Pentateuch by Henry Law
It is the Christian contention that all of Scripture speaks of Jesus. In Christ Is All, Henry Law walks through the first five books of the Old Testament and shows how the books of Moses are a treasury of Christ. This classic devotional exposition, once published in 5 volumes, is now conveniently bound in one nicely re-typeset edition.

Law begins his series with the following words:

"The object of these pages is simple, clear, holy. It is to arouse attention to the blessed truth, that Christ pervades all Scripture, as salt all waters of the sea, as light the brightest day, as fragrance the garden of choice flowers.

To see this is my prime delight. To testify it is my happiest duty. Devoted loyalty to Him who is the first and last, the sum and substance of all Scripture, impels me. Earnest zeal for the undying souls of men constrains me. I know, and am intensely persuaded, that all peace, all joy, all salvation, are in Jesus. My eyes are widely open to the fact that men are blessed, and are blessings, just in proportion as they live, ever gazing on Christ, ever listening to His voice.

Shame, then, and guilt and woe would be my portion, if I should leave any effort untried to unfold His glorious image. Let me rather use every power of life and pen to magnify and exalt Him-to beseech men to ponder Him-to search for Him-to receive Him-to love Him-to follow Him-to serve Him-to commend Him-to live in Him, and through Him, and for Him. I would thus strive, the Spirit helping, to assail and melt and conquer hearts, that Christ may there be enthroned, in all His rightful majesty, a beloved and adored Lord.

Therefore my desire in these pages is to turn minds to clear discoveries of the Lord Jesus. The Father's eye moves not from Him. The Spirit never wearies to reveal Him. Angelic intellect pants to dive more into His depths. The saints in light find Him increase of everlasting light. May the unfolding Spirit help each reader to glean more in the golden field of Scripture; and may the Pentateuch be found a boundless treasury of Christ!"

THE HOMILIES or Sermons Appointed to be Read in the Churches by Cranmer & Jewell
These wonderful sermons explain the Doctrine of the 39 Articles of the Church of England. From the excellent Foreword we read:

"The Homilies were first published in two parts, the first book appeared in 1547 during the reign of King Edward VI, and the second book in 1563 during the reign of Elizabeth I. Archbishop Cranmer is credited with writing the major part of the first book and Bishop Jewel that of the second. It was a time when the English Language was at its best pure, simple and compelling, and this is specially evident in the sermons of Cranmer with which the book opens, on the Use of Holy Scripture, of Salvation, Faith and Good Works. It was also a time when the theology of the English Church was at its best, faithful to Scripture, powerful and coherent. The light of the truth had broken in upon the minds of the Reformers and shone forth brightly with the glow of a new dawn. When Bucer, the Continental Reformer, received from Cranmer the first Homilies, he was, Strype tells us, filled with admiration for their clarity and soundness. The purpose of these sermons in the first book is to show plainly the way of salvation through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the kind of life that flows from such regeneration.

"The Homilies are the official sermons of the Church of England and are therefore of importance in determining its doctrine. Article 35 makes this connection clear, as does article 11 which states that the doctrine of justification by faith only is 'more largely expressed' in the Homily on that subject. One of the purposes of the Homilies was to put flesh and bones on the doctrinal statements of the 39 Articles. Ridley, bishop, reformer and martyr, described them, together with the 39 Articles and Book of Common Prayer, as the 'holy treasure' of the Church of England and was fearful that it should be robbed of that treasure. Are we conscious of what a rich heritage of faith we have? .... I hope that the publication of this book will make us more conscious of the special blessings we have enjoyed in the English Church and open the way to the repossession of that holy treasure."

- Extracts from the Foreword by Bishop David Samuel

THE GREAT MYSTERY OF THE COVENANT OF GRACE by Samuel Petto
The original was published in the 1670s and has a foreword by John Owen. Samuel Petto (c 1624-1711) was a dissenting minister in Sudbury, Suffolk. The list of 29 Scottish ministers recommending the book include M'Crie of Edinburgh and Kidd of Aberdeen. THIS IS THE FIRST EDITION PRINTED SINCE 1820!
John Owen said the following about this volume: "This work by this worthy author is a sober endeavor for the declaration and true stating of the nature and difference of the two covenants of works and grace."

CHRIST & HIS CHURCH IN THE PSALMS  by Andrew Bonar
"Of the highest order of merit. The author does not strain the text, but gives its real meaning. His remarks are always weighty, spiritual, and suggestive; we only wish there were more of them. He has cultivated brevity." - CH Spurgeon

THE GOSPEL REVEALED TO JOB by Charles Hulbert

Comprises thirty lectures with notes. Spurgeon gives his top rating and says: "An unusually good book; exceedingly comprehensive and helpful in many ways. The author aimed at usefulness and has succeeded wonderfully. We wonder that his work has not been better known."

I WILL BE YOUR GOD How God's Covenant Enriches Our Lives by T.M. Moore

A pastor and a theological advisor to Charles Colson and Prison Fellowship Ministries, Moore writes, "I began to see that all of life is there for taking and remaking--a richer devotional life, sustained growth in the Lord, renewed and more loving relationships, meaningful work and leisure, and the calling to transform every institution, all of culture and society, according to the wisdom and grace of God...
"I had never heard the Christian faith explained in such cosmic and powerful terms. I was stunned. Where had I been? Why was my own experience of Christ so shallow and self-centered?... All at once, as if in a moment, I experienced a stretching of my mind, a reenergizing of my soul, and a kindling of fervor in my heart such as I had never known before."
I Will Be Your God is dedicated to encouraging such an outlook on life. It does so by promoting a better understanding of the nature, meaning, and implications of living in God's covenant.

Classic Essays to Show the Perpetuity of
the Old Testament as a Living Book for All Ages

Austin Phelps (1820-1890) was a congregational minister, a professor of sacred rhetoric and homiletics, and later a president of Andover Theological Seminary. He wrote several books which were widely read, but none as much as his classic on prayer, "The Still Hour."

"Comforting, convicting, and correcting, Phelps's 'Still Hour' is the best short book a Christian can read to stir up his or her sluggish soul and lay hold of God afresh by means of biblical, heartfelt prayer." -Joel R. Beeke

What is said about THE STILL HOUR deserves to be said about STUDIES OF THE OLD TESTAMENT. The opening essay on "The Prophet of the Broken Heart" and the closing chapter on "Christ the Centre of Biblical Thought" are truly worth the price of the book, but all of the other 22 chapters are soul-stirring and heart-warming as well.

slightly modified and edited by Dr. James Renihan

FINALLY BACK IN PRINT AGAIN.

This is the 2004 updated edition of THE BAPTIST CATECHISM which was originally published by order of the Particular Baptist General Assembly that met in London in 1693. Dr. James Renihan has given us a "slightly modernized and edited version" that has proven very useful to Reformed Baptist Churches all over the world for the past ten plus years.

In the opening words of the Introduction Dr. Renihan speaks for the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of American, when he writes: "With great joy we present this Catechism to the church of Jesus Christ. It has a long and noble history, and we trust it will be of great usefulness to many more generations of Christians. We believe that an important part of the teaching office in the church is the provisionj of sound and solid theological materials for use by parents, and this little document wonderfully meets that need."

C.H. SPURGEON said the following: "I am persuaded that the use of a good Catechism in all our families will be a great safeguard against the increasing errors of the times, and therefore I have compiled this little manual from the Westminster Assembly's and Baptist Catechisms, for the use of my own church and congregation. Those who use it in their families or classes must labor to explain the sense; but the words should be carefully learned by heart, for they will be understood better as years pass. May the Lord bless my dear friends and their families evermore, is the prayer of their loving Pastor."

JOHN MURRAY, the great 20th century theologian, told the children in his Sunday School class the following about the surpassing value of The Shorter Catechsim: "Now everyone of you children should know the Shorter Catechism from the beginning to the end without a mistake by this age. Now that's without joking at all. At the age of twelve you ought to know the Shorter Catechism from beginning to end without even making a mistake. You don't know what you are missing! Get down to learning it, if you haven't already learned it! It will not only give you the most perfect human compendium of Christian truth that there is in the whole world but it will be the finest mental exercise and it will lay a foundation in your mind and in your life for a hundred other things as well as for true religion. The mere mental discipline of learning it with exactness down to each preposition is one of the best disciplines that we know of in this world in the field of education. The primary reason is to learn it for the purpose of having in your mind a comprehensive compendium of Christian truth, but even apart from that there are a hundred by-products. It will be invaluable to you through your whole life, and not only in this life but in the life which is to come. "

Living in the Hope of Glory Dying of Cancer, racked with constant pain, how did the greatest French Reformed Preacher of the nineteenth century end his brilliant ministry?

LIVING IN THE HOPE OF GLORY: The Farewell of Adolphe Monod
Living in the Hope of Glory (originally titled Les Adieux, or Farewells) has been blessing readers for almost 150 years. It consists of a series of talks given by Adolphe Monod, a renowned pastor in the Reformed Church of France, as he suffered from terminal cancer. His family and friends met in his bedroom each Sunday afternoon during the last six months of his life to partake of the Lord's Supper and to hear his exhortations.  But this is not a book about dying.  It is a book about living consistently, powerfully and joyfully for the Lord, even in the midst of hard times. A week before his death Monod said, "I have a Savior! He has freely saved me through his shed blood. . . . All my righteous acts, all my works that have been praised, all my preaching . . . is in my eyes only filthy rags."  A brief biography of Monod has been added to this edition to acquaint modern readers with this extraordinary man.

"A monument to the grace of God through fellowship with Jesus Christ. Monod's dying testimony is instructing, enriching, and inspiring. Here, the suffering Christian will find an uplifting companion." - Rick Phillips

"It is astonishing that Monod's Les Adieux are not better known. This courageous French Reformed pastor was both passionate in his care for people and singular in his devotion to God." - William Edgar

GOING BEYOND THE FIVE POINTS

Pursuing a More Comprehensive Reformation

Rob Ventura, General Editor

In recent years, a doctrinal shift has taken place among believers so great that even the secular press has taken notice. Christians across denominational lines are laying hold of the biblical truth of God's electing love and saving grace in Christ, commonly called 'Calvinism.' For many, this marks the beginning of a deeper study into the whole counsel of God in Scripture. A thirst to be thoroughly biblical in all areas of life is driving a more comprehensive present-day reformation beyond the famous 'five points.' This book captures the voices of seasoned Reformed pastors graciously guiding and encouraging Christ's beloved sheep to press on and to seek the 'old paths, where the good way is' (Jer. 6:16). In this anthology you will be instructed concerning the abiding relevance of the Ten Commandments, God-centered worship, the masterful unfolding of God's great plan of redemption through divine covenants, the identity, nature, and work of the church, and the help that confessions of faith lend to our grasp of God's glorious Word.

ENDORSEMENTS

"The rediscovery of 'the doctrines of grace' among Baptists during the last sixty years has thrilled my heart! However, this welcome advance does not make a reformation. The further necessary questions of 'what is the church?' 'how should we worship God?' 'what is Christ like living?' stand before us still, begging for biblical reformation. 'Going Beyond the Five Points' provides clear biblical direction for reforming churches today. Barcellos' defense of the Ten Commandments for Christian living under grace is unassailable. Blackburn's chapters on Covenant Theology and the doctrine of the church are indispensable to Baptist reformation. Waldron's explanation of the Regulative Principle is greatly needed by Baptists to remind us of our foundational principle which needs renewed application to worship and government. Martin's persuasive defense of why Baptists need confessions of faith today is irrefutable. To gather them together as Ventura has done provides a classic standard for further Baptist reformation today. Baptist pastors, students, and church members need to study this book to understand what it means to build biblical and Reformed Baptist churches today for the glory of Christ." - Dr. Fred A. Malone, Senior Pastor First Baptist Church Clinton, Louisiana

"Going Beyond the Five Points is a wonderful pastoral resource to give to any brother or sister in Christ who has begun the journey of better understanding the doctrines of grace. If the Five Points are the appetizer for the hungry believer, these essays will provide a rich and satisfying main course to guide them in a deeper understanding of the truth." - Jim Savastio, Pastor of Reformed Baptist Church of Louisville, Kentucky

Peter Jeffery GOSPEL PREACHING
A Manifesto Revealing Vital Issues Needed in Today's Ministry

PETER JEFFERY has a burden upon his heart and his newest book is written to send it out to the church throughout the world. THE BURDEN: The Failure of the Modern Minister of the Gospel to Preach That Gospel in a way that leads to true conversion.

Peter calls upon some of his friends to assist him as he sends forth his Manifesto to awaken those who are guilty of ignoring a vital part of their calling. Those friends are men like John MacArthur, Peyton Jones & Owen Milton, as well as Charles Spurgeon, Robert Murray McCheyne and D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Peter begins his opening chapter (entitled The Preaching We Need Today) with these words: "I realize that many who read these words will not be preachers, but these chapters are nevertheless relevant to all believers. Whether we are preachers or hearers, we need to re-examine what we expect from the ministry of the Word. What should we look for? What do we need to hear from the pulpits of our churches? True gospel preaching will not only fulfill the preacher's ministry, but will revive the desire of every believer to make Christ known."

THE TRUE DOCTRINE OF THE SABBATH by Nicholas Bownd
No book had more influence in confirming a Sabbatarian 'heart' to Puritanism than that of the parson of St. Andrews, Norton, Suffolk, Nicholas Bownd. 'The True Doctrine of the Sabbath' was the first scholarly treatment defending the concept of the Christian Sabbath or Lord's Day, later embodied in the Westminster Standards. Not reprinted since 1606, this influential work is presented afresh in a new critical edition.

"It is astonishing that the Puritan Nicholas Bownd's famous work on the Sabbath, which greatly influenced later Puritanism and the Westminster Assembly, and by extension, Western Christendom for centuries, has not been printed in a critical edition with modern typeface long ago. Not reprinted since 1606, this classic work emphasizes the fourth commandment's morally binding character, the divine institution of the entire Sabbath as the Lord's Day set apart to worship God, and the cessation of non-religious activities that distract from worship and acts of mercy. I am so grateful that it is back in print, and pray that it will do much good to restore the value and enhance the joy of the Lord's Day for many believers around the world." - Joel R. Beeke

THE QUEST FOR THE HISTORICAL ADAM by William VanDoodewaard
Was Adam really a historical person, and can we trust the biblical story of human origins? Or is the story of Eden simply a metaphor, leaving scientists the job to correctly reconstruct the truth of how humanity began? Although the church currently faces these pressing questions (exacerbated as they are by scientific and philosophical developments of our age) we must not think that they are completely new. In 'The Quest for the Historical Adam', William VanDoodewaard recovers and assesses the teaching of those who have gone before us, providing a historical survey of Genesis commentary on human origins from the patristic era to the present. Reacquainting the reader with a long line of theologians, exegetes, and thinkers, VanDoodewaard traces the roots, development, and, at times, disappearance of hermeneutical approaches and exegetical insights relevant to discussions on human origins. This survey not only informs us of how we came to this point in the conversation but also equips us to recognize the significance of the various alternatives on human origins.

"Dr. Bill VanDoodewaard has gifted the church with a work that began as a labor of love but has grown into a significant major study in which he marries the disciplines of a church historian and the concerns of a Christian theologian. The issues on which he touches reach down to the very foundations of the Christian worldview, to creation itself. Those who share the author's understanding of the early chapters of Genesis will deeply appreciate his detailed analysis and synthesis of how they have been interpreted throughout the Christian centuries. And those who differ, whether in fine details or in major ways, ought, in integrity, to familiarize themselves with the copious material that Dr. VanDoodewaard here presents. This is a valuable and significant contribution to a much-debated subject and from a perspective that has too often been overlooked." - Sinclair B. Ferguson

Richard Bennett is a former Catholic Priest, now an Evangelist. He originally comes from Ireland, where the Jesuit priests trained him in his early years. He then received eight years of theological instruction and preparation for the priesthood with the Dominicans. He completed his education at the Angelicum University in Rome in 1964. He spent twenty-one years as a Catholic parish priest in Trinidad, West Indies. After fourteen years of contrasting Catholicism to biblical truth, he was convicted by the Gospel message in 1985. He was then saved by God's grace alone. Soon after, he formally left the Catholic Church and its priesthood. He has founded an evangelistic ministry to Catholics called "Berean Beacon."

As he reaches the age of 77, he is about to publish with us at Solid Ground Christian Books the book, "On the Wings of Grace Alone: The Testimonies of Thirty Converted Catholics."  Having read these testimonies from ordinary people they are VERY powerful indeed. I have been greatly encouraged by the way the Lord has led so many to perfect freedom in Christ in a variety of ways.  One of the consistent similarities about these testimonies is THE CENTRAL PLACE OF THE BIBLE in all their stories.  Sadly, to most Roman Catholics the Bible is a respected book, but tragically all too often a neglected book.  Here you will see the truth found in the words of Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

COME YE APART
A Daily Journey Through All Four Gospels of our Lord

CLICK TO VIEW ALL MILLER TITLES

A daily devotional journey through the life of Christ as recorded in all four Gospels. This daily devotional would be a great gift for your Sunday School Teacher, your favorite missionary, your children, your parents or yourself.  In Miller's own words: "This volume of a year's readings has been prepared in the hope that it may prove daily food to some earnest children of God in their life of care, struggle, and duty. It is made to cover the earthly life of our Lord, from its beginning to its close... The author's aim has been to put a life-thought on each page... The book has but a single aim: to honor and glorify Christ in the eyes of those who follow its pages."

"If any 19th century American Christian writer warrants reprinting, it is J.R. Miller! His writing style is delightfully smooth, his insights are spiritual diamonds on every page, and his pastoral applications are delivered with the skill of a well-seasoned physician of souls." - Pastor Bill Shishko of Long Island, NY

"This book is a calendar for devotional reading. At the top of each page is a verse of Scripture, and the texts chosen are made to cover the earthly life of out Lord. The readings which follow each text are intended to be neither exegetical nor expository, but practical and promotive of a devotional spirit. They are exceedingly full of suggestions to duty, and encouragements to a holy life. It is a good book to take into one's 'inner chamber' as a help to to devout meditation upon the words of our Savior." - New England and Yale Review

A BRIEF SAMPLE FROM A PORTION OF ONE DAY -

ENDURING TEMPTATION
February 22

"Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil."  -Matt. 4:1

"The time is to be noted. It was just after the wonderful scenes of our Lord's baptism. The heavens were opened, and the Spirit descended and abode upon him, and the Father's voice was heard from heaven in approval and witness; then immediately came the terrible experience here described. Spiritual privileges do not save us from fiery trials. Indeed there is no time when Satan is so sure to come with his subtle arts as just when we have passed through some season of special blessing. When we go from our prayer closet after a time of tender communion he meets us at the door with some evil suggestion. It is after we have been nearest to God that we are sure to find the devil most active. He is not half so anxious to tempt worldly Christians as those who are glowing with spiritual zeal."

THE GLORY OF A TRUE CHURCH
THE MARROW OF TRUE JUSTIFICATION
THE TRAVELS OF TRUE GODLINESS

Travels of True Godliness               Marrow of True Justification

Benjamin Keach (1640-1704) was one of the best and most well-known Baptist and Puritan theologians of the 1600s. He was instrumental in introducing hymns into the church's worship, and also was one of the framers of the 1689 London Baptist Confession. He also had a profound love for the church, which is displayed in all that he wrote. We are delighted to offer this trilogy!

THE TRAVELS OF TRUE GODLINESS: from the beginning of the world to this present day : in an apt and pleasant allegory
"After defining godliness and showing its worthy pedigree and antiquity, 'the excellent Benjamin Keach' (as he was fondly called), allegorically personifies 'Godliness,' much as Bunyan did 'Christian.' He introduces us to more than two dozen enemies of godliness, then details Godliness's encounters with several of them, including apostasy, hypocrisy, legalism, antinomianism, worldliness, and Satan. We meet in graphic detail the temptations of youth and old age, of riches and poverty, as well as the joys of contentment, thoughtfulness, kindness, and love. This is a fascinating read by the most important Baptist thinker of his day, designed to stir us up to a greater pursuit of godliness." - Dr. Joel R. Beeke

THE MARROW OF TRUE JUSTIFICATION
"The publication of Benjamin Keach's 'The Marrow of True Justification' is a timely and welcome addition to the growing body of literature from 17th Century Particular Baptist authors. This is especially true for two reasons. On the one hand, it provides us with a helpful insight into their wonderful grasp of the gospel and its nature. They were clear in their understanding of law and grace, forgiveness, the nature of the work of Christ and everything else related to a clear proclamation of the gospel. But on the other hand, it helps us to see that modern errors and deviations from the purity of the gospel are not new. They are simply old heresies dressed in modern terms. Keach's work calls us back to the well-established path of Scripture and Reformed Theology. I pray that this work will be read far and wide and strengthen our resolve to preach Christ and his gospel in purity and simplicity. Thank you, SGCB for this reprint." - Dr. James Renihan

THE GLORY OF A TRUE CHURCH
"Without question, Benjamin Keach was the greatest theologian among Baptists of the second-generation. He was also a faithful pastor who cared deeply for the church, and longed to see it ordered according to God's revealed will. In this little book, 'The Glory of a True Church', Keach brilliantly, clearly, and succinctly explains the nature of church polity as well as regular and orderly church discipline. I highly recommend it to scholars, pastors, and laymen alike!" - Tom Hicks, PhD Pastor of Morningview Baptist Church

THE FEAR OF GOD by John Murray

"John Murray's booklet on the fear of God--a theme that desperately needs to be resurrected today--is the best short treatment of this subject anywhere in the English language." - Joel R. Beeke

WOMEN SPEAKING IN THE CHURCH by B.B. Warfield, R.L. Dabney & Geoff Thomas

"This project is a must! Feminism and egalitarianism are insidious errors, striking at the heart of both home and church and probably society as well. Both God's creation ordinance and the character of the the church are affected. Warfield and Dabney deal with these matters biblically and powerfully. I cannot urge you strongly enough to get these two great works into print. You must do this!" - Pastor Don Lindblad

BIBLICAL CHURCH DISCIPLINE by Daniel Wray

"Wray's work is a wonderful primer on its subject. The second definition of primer is 'A book that covers the basic elements of a subject.' The root of primer is from the Latin for first. This book has been the first to be consulted by many who have faced real life issues related to church discipline. It remains a well-balanced and properly basic reminder of what is most important." - Dr. Michael Renihan

FOR WHOM DID CHRIST DIE? by John Murray

"The question of the extent of the atonement is simply: for whom did Christ make atonement? In even simpler language it is: for whom did Christ die? The question is: on whose behalf did Christ offer himself a sacrifice? On whose behalf did he propitiate the wrath of God? Whom did he reconcile to God in the body of his flesh through death? Whom did he redeem from the curse of the law, from the guilt and power of sin, from the enthralling power and bondage of Satan? In whose stead and on whose behalf was he obedient unto death, even the death of the cross? These are precisely the questions that have to be asked and frankly faced if the matter of the extent of the atonement is to be placed in proper focus." - John Murray

DECISIONAL REGENERATION vs DIVINE REGENERATION by James Adams

"Being or becoming religious is not the same as being regenerate. That applies whatever the religion; even one that describes itself as 'evangelical.' As surely as everyone has to be born to live on earth, so everyone must be reborn to have heavenly eternal life; and no one can do either for himself. All life comes from God, and by way of gift. James Adams explains all this so clearly in these pages and also how the good news should be both preached and received." - Hywel Jones, Professor of Practical Theology, Westminster Seminary California

MINDING YOUR FAITH
How Men Can Have Devotional Lives That Will Actually Affect Their Real Lives
Gregg Hodge

"As one who regularly reads and teaches books related to the history of biblical spirituality, I believe that I have some idea of wheat and chaff in this ever-growing field of thought and reflection. This new book by Gregg Hodge is definitely in the category of wheat, for here is solid, practical wisdom on how best to nourish the soul. So buy this book--ponder it--and don't be afraid to do what it says!" - Dr. Michael A.G. Haykin

"Every time I find myself languishing in self-pity, smoldering in anger or sinking in doubt; every time another failure strips my last hope or fatigue squelches my best intentions; whenever distractions jar my focus; whenever circumstances challenge my beliefs, or when my pain eclipses my joy, I begin, not by tending to my emotions, but by minding my faith. So my hope is to help you do the same for your own satisfaction and for God's Glory." from the Introduction

A Wounded Army Vet Joins with Bo, the Three-Legged Dog,
to Teach Children Invaluable Lessons
by Sharman Martin

Solid Ground and "Dancing with the Stars"?  I am not a fan of the show but recently a young man, NOAH GALLOWAY, has taken that show by storm as he has performed with one arm and one leg, which he lost while serving his country in Iraq, nearly 10 years ago.  Noah is the HERO in our latest children's book.  It is an amazing book for children of all ages.

Follow the adventures of Bo, a real-life, three-legged dog who lost his right leg in a terrible accident, but who persevered and won the heart of his new owner and the author of the book. Although this is written for young children, parents and teachers will find this story tugging at their hearts, as they see the value and integrity of all creatures of our God and King.

Despite incredible obstacles, Noah has persevered to become a national hero to tens of thousands who have heard him speak about overcoming disabilities. One purpose of the book is to share how one can overcome trials that are sent as a test from the Lord. The language is simple and the pictures are breath-taking, and touch the heart.

PLEASE PRAY FOR NOAH as he is now facing challenges even more dangerous than the ones he faced in Iraq.  Fame can be intoxicating.

THE INFINITE MERIT OF CHRIST: The Glory of Christ's Obedience in the Theology of Jonathan Edwards

"While setting the record straight on Edwards's theology through leaning heavily on his own writings (800 quotes from Edwards!), Biehl's work is also a tour de force for the confirmation of Reformed orthodoxy in the midst of ongoing debates about justification today." - Dr. Joel R. Beeke

"Craig Biehl's work offers just what is needed today - a comprehensive treatment of Edwards' understanding of Christ and His saving work of redemption. Few of the leading Edwards scholars know Reformed theology well, or understand the significance of Edwards' soteriology." - Dr. Doug Sweeney

"Biehl's careful hand skillfully guides us through these writings, even leading us to offer words of praise for what Christ has done for us - a rare and admirable feat for a piece of scholarship." - Dr. Stephen J. Nichols

THE BOX: Answering the Faith of Unbelief

"This is a great book to share with a non-Christian inquirer. Written as a dialogue between a Christian and an atheist, it is enjoyable to read, and its presuppositional argument for the truth of Christianity is cogent. I hope it gets a broad circulation." --John M. Frame, J. D. Trimble Professor of Theology and Philosophy, Reformed Theological Seminary

"This is a wonderful help. Its reasoning is tight, but it is 'popular' enough to be helpful for virtually anyone. Really a nice work." --Fred Zaspel, Author of The Theology of B. B. Warfield

"Biehl's book is impressive. The dialogue is a helpful and interesting approach that makes apologetics more accessible. There is so much to which I could point that I consider to be good and even striking that I think it would be pedantic to list them all." --David McWilliams, Senior Minister, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Lakeland, FL

READING "RELIGIOUS AFFECTIONS" - A Study Guide to Jonathan Edwards' Classic on the Nature of True Christianity

Have you ever put abook down and thought, 'Wow, that's deep. I wish I had a friend who could walk me through this book and explain it point by point'? Craig Biehl has done precisely that. Furthermore, he has done it for one of the most important books ever written: 'Religious Affections'. No one since the apostles had more insight into authentic godliness than Jonathan Edwards. But his books can be difficult to read. Biehl's study guide helps you to understand the historical situation of Edwards's day. It walks you through Edwards's teachings in easy-to-follow outlines mingled with choice quotes from Edwards. After each section he presents several questions for personal meditation or small group discussion. I regularly assign 'Religious Affections' to my students and heartily recommend Biehl's book as a companion to all who would read, understand, and apply Edwards's masterpiece." --Dr. Joel R. Beeke, President, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan

"With exacting rigor and care, Jonathan Edwards' Treatise Concerning Religious Affections provides both a diagnosis of the Great Awakening and good medicine for what ails Christian piety. In this unique study guide, Craig Biehl here dispenses twenty manageable and carefully referenced doses drawn from the Treatise for the health of true religion in the church of the Great Physician. " - R. Daniel Knox, Pastor, Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Sewickley, PA
