We are pleased to share with you The Children's Museum of Easton's Mind Body Soul Summer activities! We hope these activities help you all to nourish your minds and bodies and continue bringing joy to your family and community.

Activity for the Mind: Jellybean Engineering
Building structures with marshmallows is a classic engineering project, but there are countless ways to adapt it to what you have on hand. This time around we are using jellybeans with the toothpicks. You can choose to lead your children in an activity or let them freely explore!

YOU’LL NEED: Jelly beans, toothpicks, flat working surface

DIRECTIONS:
  1.  Gently poke a jelly bean with a toothpick.
  2. Connect jelly beans together with other toothpicks to create your own design.

TIPS: Encourage children to use their imagination to design a cool structure! Or, give them a goal. For example: Design a free-standing structure that is at least three levels (toothpicks) tall but only one level wide.
Activity for the Body: Backyard Bonanza!
A backyard bonanza can be full of any of your favorite outdoor activities! Pick a few of your family favorites and enjoy an afternoon in the fresh air.

Here are a few ideas:
  1. Freeze tag
  2. Hopscotch
  3. Tag
  4. Hide and Seek
  5. Obstacle Course
  6. Family Olympics (a rematch from #CMEREPLACETHERACE perhaps?)
You could even make up your own outdoor game! How many will you play in this bonanza?

Activity for the Soul: Thank You Sweet Treats
Essential workers in our community have been working tirelessly for months, helping others with Covid-19. Although we still may need social distancing right now, we can show our appreciation by baking them yummy treats!
If you do not personally know essential workers in our community, your local fire or police departments would love a “sweet” thank you treat! A plate of cookies or brownies (or any other yummy treat) made by your family is sure to be a hit!
Hingham - Conscious Crafting Fridays, 11a through Aug 28th, Weir River Farm. Participants should park across from the Yellow House at 140 Turkey Hill Lane and then we will gather on the lawn outside the Yellow House for our crafting session.

Middleborough - Soule Homestead This Summer we have an awesome opportunity for you to visit Soule. Want to snuggle a rabbit? Feed a sheep it’s breakfast? Collect eggs and show your kids your chicken catching skills? You can do all that and more at Soule! In order to keep our visitors as safe as possible, we are not offering our First Farm Fun story hours or our Soule Summer Camp program. In the place of these programs we are instead offering small group visits so that you can still do many of your favorite activities on the farm. Each program has a limit that you can work within to have your extended family or friends join you. We require at least one adult per each group visit. On the farm we have a bathroom which is cleaned daily, we have an outdoor hand washing station and our staff will wear a mask the entire time they work with your group. We ask that everyone in your party (over the age of 3) brings a mask to wear for moments that they will be in close contact with our staff.

This online presentation will introduce common nighthawk life history, behavior, and ecological niche. You'll also learn about population trends, why nighthawks and other aerial insectivores seem to be declining, and the best times and places to see this bird in the coming weeks.
