We are pleased to share with you The Children's Museum of Easton's Mind Body Soul Summer activities! We hope these activities help you all to nourish your minds and bodies and continue bringing joy to your family and community.

Activity for the Mind: Puffy Paint Offering children opportunities to use a variety of materials for art, beyond the traditional pencil and paper, can strengthen imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills! A masterpiece with puffy paint (and of course making your own with our recipe) will be a summer hit!

MATERIALS: 3 cups shaving cream(not gel), 1 cup flour, 1 cup glue, food coloring, bowl(s), spoon, ziploc bags, scissors, sturdy paper or cardboard

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Mix shaving cream, flour and glue together without over mixing
  2. This step is for multiple colors. Divide the white puffy paint mixture between 3 to 4 small bowls
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl, careful not to over mix.
  4. Spoon the puffy paint into individual sandwich bags.
  5. Cut a small tip out of one corner of a filled ziploc and use it like frosting piping on paper. Allow to dry.

And family hikes are a huge hit!  If your family is not an avid hiking team, you’ll want to do a little research and preparations to ensure safety and to get the most enjoyment out of your adventure! There are many resources online to know what supplies you should take with you, maps to navigate, and suggestions for trails. Here are a few suggestions of “the Best Kid Friendly Trails in Massachusetts” according to Alltrails.com: Blue Hills Reservation, Watatic Mountain State Wildlife Area, Great Brook Farm State Park, Middlesex Fells Reservation,

Activity for the Soul: Toybox Cleanout

It’s wonderful to have toys and games. But, there are some friends who may be less fortunate. Go through your toys and games and donate to a local organization (dependent on Covid regulations) or make a FREE pile outside of your home for others to take. Here are some examples of organizations that could help connect your donations for families in need: Resell charities like The Salvation Army and other thrift stores, Local shelters, Churches, Child care centers. Reader’s Digest has nine suggestions to encourage kids to give away old toys. Check out their link  for details and more information about each of the following suggestions: Talk about donating, Set targets, Remember to involve the child, Set an example, Make it fun, Set aside time, Make it a habit, Try a grace period, Make them feel appreciated.
