We are pleased to share with you The Children's Museum of Easton's Mind Body Soul Summer activities! We hope these activities help you all to nourish your minds and bodies and continue bringing joy to your family and community.

Activity for the Mind: Animal Nature Art Combining the beauties of nature and a creative imagination can produce amazing art! This activity involves spending some time collecting items from the outdoors. *While leaves and flower petals can add bold colors, we encourage you to find items already separated from it’s life source.

Materials:   Here are some suggestions: Leaves, sticks, pine cones, petals, etc. Paper and glue

Instructions : Use your nature collection to design pictures of animals, people or landscapes. We suggest planning the entire picture before gluing to the paper.

Activity for the Body: Frisbee Toss or Frisbee Golf! Summer is a great time to get outside and explore news hobbies/sports! Have you ever played Frisbee Golf, a fun sport played casually in your backyard or competitively at your local course. For example, Boarderland State Park in Easton has an expansive course throughout the park, used by people of all different levels and ages.  Frisbee Golf not your game? All you need is a frisbee and a little space. Toss the disc with family or friends for some fun exercise. The rules to basic frisbee golf are provided by the West Sound Disc Golf Association.  Visit their website here to learn the basic rules of play.
Activity for the Soul: Sidewalk Masterpieces Empathy and compassion are at the foundation of a positive contributing member of society and prosocial behavior. Providing children with the opportunities to develop empathy, is so valuable, especially in the formative years.  The concept of empathy is easier for children to comprehend when it’s tangible. An example is helping those in need around us. While self-isolation can be difficult for most of us, it can be especially wearing on our most vulnerable- the elderly. Many of our elders live alone and may not have loved ones to check on them. Seek out an elder in your family or in your neighborhood to see if they need anything or could use your help. Making a card, helping with a chore or cooking a meal for someone in need will be greatly appreciated and a wonderful way to teach your young one about compassion!

Signe Whitson , a contributor for the HuffPost, shares eight ways to teach compassion to children. Below are a few highlights.

Walk the Talk - Children may listen to your words, but more importantly, they learn from observing your actions. When you have a chance to practice a random act of compassion, do so!

Put the Child on the Receiving End of Compassion - While showing compassion to others is a top way to teach this value to a child, allowing a young person to experience compassion first-hand is even more impactful.

Talk the Talk - Most children can learn about true compassion by seeing and feeling this trait acted out, but when parents talk explicitly about acts of compassion, they communicate its importance as a prized family value.

Easton - The Original Easton Farmers Market Saturdays, 10a - 2p. Located at 591 Depot St/Rte 123,, along the "S" curve. We are open rain or shine.

Registration of $10 per person is required; each individual must register for a space, including both adults and children. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. To register multiple family members at the same time, please add the number of people who will be coming as "quantity" during your checkout; all registrations must be completed online. Pre-registration is required; registration will end no later than the day before the class at 4 pm, or when capacity has been reached, and walk-ins will not be available at the door. The maximum number of participants (including children and adults) in this class is 10, and due to regulations, additional spaces cannot be added. All participants are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times during the class. Please meet no earlier than five minutes before the beginning of class near the NRT Carriage House, and signage will direct you; please wait in your vehicle prior to that time. Groups must pre-register for this event in order to participate. Parking located at 140 Turkey Hill Lane, then walk down the farm “chute” to the barnyard. Each program has a limit that you can work within to have your extended family or friends join you. We require at least one adult per each group visit. On the farm we have a bathroom which is cleaned daily, we have an outdoor hand washing station and our staff will wear a mask the entire time they work with your group.
