_Tuesday, July 21st @ 7 PM CDT - Zoom: Fiscal & Economic June Review - 13 Yrs Running - Longest US Economic Discussion Running.. Chaos Continues: Jobs, Tariff Wars, ICE, Health Care Crisis, Affordability / Inflation & Debt_
_In June, the U.S. added just 57,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate was 4.2%, with 7.1 million people out of work. Only about 59.0% of the population is working, and the labor force participation rate slipped to 61.5%. Average hourly pay is $37.64, up 3.5% over the past year — and with consumer prices up 3.5% over that same period, real hourly earnings were up only 0.1%._
At the same time, affordability remains a crisis for working families. Even though the Consumer Price Index fell 0.4% in June, prices are still 3.5% higher than a year ago, gasoline prices are up 26.7% over the year, and core inflation remains above the Fed's 2% target.
We’ll unpack what the June jobs report really shows, how Trump’s tariffs, deportations, and broader economic instability are shaping the economy, and what it means for people here in Illinois and across the country. Join us on Zoom to dig into the numbers, cut through the spin, and talk about what we can do together.
_Come join us, catch up on this year's US & IL economic news and share your thoughts._
