I often rely on social media for inspiration - I'll save posts from Instagram and Pinterest. Though sometimes, seeing these makers constantly churning out one sewing project after another can make me feel like a poor sewist.
It's important to know that many social media posts are an illusion - it only shows you the highlight reel. No one is spending their entire week sewing a complete outfit and having a troublesome-free time doing it either. This brings me to the next point - sewing in small chunks can help build that momentum.
You can plan to sew as much as 15 minutes a day before heading out for work or before bed. You can plan to do one aspect of your sewing project one evening and then continue with the next step the following evening. Assemble your pattern one night, cut your fabric the following evening, sew the top next, and sew the bottom on another day.
You don't have to force yourself to start a sewing project and complete it in one day. Take your time and enjoy the process.
But I'm curious to know how you stay motivated to sew, or what do you do to regain it? Do you wait for the next big holiday or event to have a reason to sew? Or, like me, turn your sewing space upside down and reorganize it?
Let me know! You can reply to this email, and I'd be happy to hear from you!
Happy Sewing,
Carla.
P.S. To help you get back your sew-jo, or if it hasn't escaped you at all, here's a free sewing planner you can print out at many times as you'd like to help you plan for your next sewing projects. Enjoy!
