Common Council Approves Redevelopment of White Plains Mall Site

At its September meeting, the Common Council voted to approve the redevelopment of the White Plains Mall site located at 200 Hamilton Avenue. The new development, named Hamilton Green, will be comprised of four mixed use buildings that sit atop a public platform, each with a lobby that connects to the street level.

Hamilton Green will replace the outdated enclosed mall with a sustainable community that features pedestrian-friendly sidewalks and streets, a balanced mix of land uses, and activated public spaces, all close to a variety of transit options.

The plan calls for a total of 860 residential units, including 86 (10%) affordable units. The four residential towers will surround more than 55,000 square feet of open space, most of which will be an elevated, publicly accessible plaza.  The creation of this public space nearly doubles the amount of green space in downtown White Plains.

An additional 27,000 square feet has been set aside for flexible office space. Parking will be provided in a fully enclosed, four-story parking garage with 956 spaces.
