Since

Lanny
has
provided
leadership
for
over
$240
million
in central
plant
and
building
energy
projects
at
Cornell.
He
led
the campus
wide
$45
million
Energy
Conservation
Initiative
and
energy management
program
from
2001
to
2015
which
kept
energy
use
flat while
campus
space
grew
by
20%.
He
was
the
project
director
for
the $83
million
Combined
Heat
and
Power
Project
which
allowed
the university
to
eliminate
coal,
reduce
central
utility
use
associated carbon
emissions
by
50%,
exceed
its
stated
Kyoto
compliance
goal, and
usher
in
a new
era
of
high efficiency heating
and electricity.
Lanny
initiated
and
was
project
manager
for
the
Lake Source
Cooling
deep
lake
water
cooling
project,
an
innovative
and award-winning
project
completed
in
2000
that
provides
all
of
the chilled
water
production
on
the
central
campus
utilizing
a
renewable resource
and
86%
less
energy.
Lanny
has
a
Bachelor
of
Science
in
Mechanical
and
Aerospace Engineering
from
Cornell
with
distinction

is
a
member
of
the International
District
Energy
Association
(IDEA),

of
Heating, Refrigerating,
