2020 Changes at The Arc of Aurora
Submitted by Darla Stuart, Executive Director
Happy 2020!

We at The Arc of Aurora have had a busy start to our year providing individual advocacy to hundreds, offering systems' change advocacy with elected officials, and educating the community through our social enterprise, THINK+change . We, too, have had a busy start to the year related to The Arc of Aurora building. The staff and Board of The Arc of Aurora have known for a while that we have outgrown our current space and have decided it's time to say farewell to our home of the last 14 years, 1342 S. Chambers Road.

Due to the above, The Arc of Aurora is excited to share that we are on the hunt for a new building in Aurora, CO! Additionally, we plan put our current building on the market and will soon have a “for sale” sign outside. We are in the very early stages of this transition and anticipate the process of selling and buying to take upwards of a year. But, it could happen sooner or later if we find the perfect fit.
So what does that mean for YOU ? It means that The Arc of Aurora is committed to keeping business as usual as we move through this process, and that we don’t anticipate any issues in meeting our clients' needs or our organization's mission.

We appreciate the support of all of you who value empowerment of and justice for those with I/DD, and hope that you are as excited about this transition as we are.

Thank you, be well, and stay tuned for future updates!

Darla Stuart
Executive Director, The Arc of Aurora

 Policy Profile
Submitted by Hanni Raley, Assistant Executive Director
The 72nd Session of the General Assembly opened on January 8, 2020, and legislators across the state didn’t waste any time introducing important bills to their constituents. The session will run through the beginning of May, so plenty is yet to come. The Arc of Aurora will monitor bills important to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Aurora. One way we do this is tracking bills that impact The Arc of Colorado’s 2020 Policy Agenda, an agenda that we, along with all Arc Chapters in the state, support.
