Working Local Benefits You and Your Community
Hiring signs are everywhere. The streets in the Barrington area are paved with opportunity!

Yet despite the many advantages to working local in your community, businesses here and across the nation are having a hard time recruiting workers. The challenge to hire is affecting their ability to grow. Right now, nearly every restaurant in our area is looking for workers.

In fact, for Marc Bear, of the Barrington Bear McDonalds, it is something he thinks about every day. “It’s crazy, we don’t have enough workers to staff the restaurant,” he said. So, according to Bear, they have to consider such choices as modifying their hours to accommodate staffing abilities.

“We offer good pay, benefits, and incentives like scholarships and free uniforms,” he said. The hiring challenge makes it difficult on current staff who are overworked, he added.

Take a look at the local hiring opportunities and consider working here in the Barrington area. There are many reasons to work locally. It is better for your health and the health of your community. Working local leads to a better quality of life. You have more time to spend at home with family, less time to commute, and more time to pursue other passions in life.

Working local is great for the environment. Your commute to work is reduced saving you money on today’s high gas prices and reducing your carbon footprint. It reduces commute and traffic stress. You may even be able to walk, run or bike to work to improve your health and fitness. You will be home for more family dinners and have more time to spend with loved ones. You may even be able to sleep in later.

Working local helps our local businesses grow and prosper. And, while you are working local, you will be supporting other local businesses as you stop locally for lunch, a cup of coffee, treats to bring home and more.

Young or old, there are many employment opportunities here in the Barrington area. Work local!-- Suzanne Corr, BACC President
