At our Reseda Site this January we introduced a few new Club activities! One of the standout additions is the Fashion Club, where members get to explore and develop their unique sense of style.
More than just about clothing, Fashion Club encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Members will experiment with colors, textures, and patterns, learning how to mix and match in ways that reflect their individuality. Through this process, they'll gain a sense of pride in their personal style while discovering that fashion is not only fun and flexible but also a powerful way to express who they are.

Our members have been having a blast with STEM activities! Recently, they created paper helicopters—perfect timing with all the windy weather we've been experiencing. This hands-on project allowed them to explore the effects of wind while adding their own creative touch by decorating their helicopters.
The real fun began when we tested them both indoors and outdoors, observing how they reacted in different conditions. We’re excited to keep the STEM excitement going with upcoming projects like lava lamps, slime, coding, and more!

This month, Boys & Girls Club partnered with a talented Hip Hop choreographer to bring the excitement of dance to our members! They finally got to meet their instructor and dive into the rhythm, energy, and creativity of Hip Hop.
Beyond just learning new moves, dance became a fun and uplifting way for members to stay active, express themselves, and shift their focus to something positive. In a year full of challenges, Hip Hop has provided a space for joy, movement, and connection—and we can’t wait to keep the momentum going!

At Justice St.’s Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, members rang in the Lunar New Year with an exciting Lion Dance assembly, part of the Club’s ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This lively event gave members a glimpse into the rich history and cultural significance of the Lion Dance, a traditional symbol of prosperity and good fortune.
Adding to the fun, youth had the chance to take an active role by forming their own dragon ensemble, promoting teamwork and cultural appreciation. This immersive experience not only honored a cherished tradition but also inspired members to celebrate and embrace the diverse cultures within their community.

This month, at our Mosk Site for Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley came together to show appreciation for the brave firefighters who worked tirelessly to protect our community from recent fires. Our young members poured their gratitude into heartfelt, personalized cards, recognizing the dedication and courage of these first responders.
This initiative was more than just a gesture—it was a lesson in unity, resilience, and the power of giving back. Even in difficult times, our members learned that kindness and appreciation can make a difference. The cards were delivered as a sincere thank-you, and we couldn’t be prouder of how our students turned challenge into gratitude and hope.

Mosk Boys & Girls Club is excited to introduce our new and popular program: Gameroom! In our latest session, members had the chance to explore our brand-new chess kits. Students who are already familiar with the game took the lead, teaching their peers and making the experience even more enjoyable for everyone!
Each week features a different game, including favorites like Uno, Scrabble, and foosball, offering something for every interest. As part of the program, members are also working on a special project: using the skills they’ve learned to design and play their own custom board games. Gameroom is a fantastic way for members across all grades to come together for friendly competition, creativity, and plenty of fun!

Every other Friday, Coach Abby brings the excitement with her highly anticipated Club Buck Store—a crowd favorite among our members! But that’s not all—this month, we’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new Leadership Club, where 4th and 5th graders are stepping up, taking charge, and building the skills to become tomorrow’s leaders.
In the Leadership Club, members dive into hands-on opportunities to assist coaches across our programs, mastering teamwork, communication, and problem-solving along the way. They’re also brainstorming future activities, mentoring younger members, and discovering what it truly means to be a positive role model.
Just look at Azalea Monden, Katelyn Wagner, and Natalia Zolnierkiewicz—three of our incredible 5th-grade members! These young leaders took the reins during the Club Buck Store, managing sales, connecting with fellow members, and making a big impact. They’re not just leading today—they’re gearing up to take on even bigger roles tomorrow!
We’re so proud of these future changemakers!

Provide a nurturing and enriching environment where youth can explore, develop, and showcase their artistic talents across various disciplines—digital, visual, applied, and performing arts. Through these creative opportunities, they actively practice self-expression, crafting original works that convey their thoughts, emotions, and ideas.
This month, our members and staff came together to create heartfelt cards for California firefighters. These cards are a small way to thank them and show our immense gratitude for their bravery and dedication in battling the recent fires across the state.

Arts and Cultural Enrichment

The Teen Center recently had an incredible opportunity to dive into the basics of songwriting, fostering an environment of self-expression and self-discovery through the art of musical storytelling. This enriching program was led by The Get Together Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing youth with creative and healthy outlets for emotional expression.
A special shoutout goes to Laurie, the program's instructor, who made each session both engaging and impactful. Her ability to blend education with entertainment created a powerful experience that left a lasting impression on our teens.

Bilingual Immersion: Learning about New Years
|
Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley at Canoga Park High recently hosted a vibrant bilingual immersion program to introduce students to New Year’s celebrations in the United States. The presentation spotlighted iconic traditions, including the famous ball drop in Times Square, heartfelt family gatherings, meaningful resolutions, and the diverse cultural festivities that make each community's celebration unique.
After the presentation, students got creative with hands-on arts and crafts activities. They designed themed decorations and personalized crafts inspired by their interpretations of New Year’s traditions. This engaging experience not only sparked their creativity but also deepened their understanding of the rich cultural tapestry of New Year’s celebrations in the U.S.
