More Improvements Coming to Neshotah Park

A Clearer Path Forward for Neshotah Park

At Monday night's meeting, the Two Rivers City Council approved a contract for new wayfinding and directional signage at Neshotah Park as part of the Neshotah Park Master Plan adopted in 2023.

The project will add new gateway signs, trail information, directional signs, and visitor orientation kiosks to help residents and visitors better navigate one of our community's most popular destinations. Whether you're heading to the beach, playground, trails, concessions, or parking areas, finding your way around the park will soon be easier than ever.

This project was reviewed multiple times by the resident-led Advisory Recreation Board and developed with input from local stakeholders and community organizations, including the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum and Washington House.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is that it will actually reduce sign clutter. Through the replacement and consolidation of existing signs, there will be a net reduction of at least 10 signs along Zlatnik Drive and the beach area.

Even better, the project is being funded through a Wisconsin DNR Stewardship Grant from 2025 and previously approved capital funds from last year, resulting in $0 impact on the City's 2026 General Fund budget.

Thank you to everyone who helped shape this project and continues to work together to make Neshotah Park an even better community asset.

City Hall Survey – Public Funding Priorities

Your input is needed.

Resident engagement is at the cornerstone of all major City decisions and we want to know what you think as we plan for the future.

Without additional revenue, services provided by the City of Two Rivers may have to be reduced in the future as a way to balance the General Fund.

Hamilton Property Soil Sampling Begins

Progress continues as the city moves from visioning to environmental assessment.

An important milestone quietly occurred back on May 22 as environmental soil sampling officially took place for the first time at the former Hamilton property in Two Rivers.

While much work remains ahead, this marks another meaningful step forward in understanding the site’s environmental conditions and preparing for the long-term future redevelopment potential of this once-in-a-generation waterfront property.

The collected soil samples are now being analyzed through the Wisconsin DNR process, with results currently expected to be available by the end of June. Those findings will help guide future environmental planning, redevelopment discussions, and next steps related to the property.

Over the past several months, the community has already helped shape a shared vision for the site through multiple resident workshops and conceptual planning efforts. This shared vision will be ready for City Council review in late summer and upon adoption, will give the City its marching orders to go find the right developer.

Environmental due diligence work like soil sampling is a critical part of turning that vision into a realistic path forward for future generations.

Storm Damage Permit Fees Waived

A Helping Hand for Storm Recovery

This week, Two Rivers City Council approved a resolution to help residents and local businesses continue recovering from the May 17 storm.

Under the resolution, the City will temporarily waive building permit fees for eligible storm-related repairs through June 30, 2026. The waiver also applies retroactively to qualifying permits issued after May 17.

While City Hall cannot cover the cost of private property damage, we can help reduce some of the expenses associated with repairs and encourage repairs to be completed safely and in compliance with building codes.

Residents with questions about qualifying repairs or permit requirements are encouraged to contact the Community Development Department at 920-793-5566.

Your Water Dollars at Work

Investing in City Infrastructure

Good progress is being made on the public water supply reservoir improvement project.

Over the past week, crews completed the inspection, cleaning, and disinfection of the reservoir, which can hold 2 million gallons of treated drinking water. The new overflow piping is now installed, and the reservoir is currently being refilled.

The good news? The inspection confirmed that the reservoir remains in very good condition, requiring no significant repairs beyond the planned overflow improvements.

While most residents never see this infrastructure, it plays a critical role in our community every day. The reservoir helps maintain water pressure, provides reserve water storage for emergencies, supports firefighting operations, and helps the City meet peak water demands during high-use periods.

Thank you to our Utility crews for their work on this important project as we continue investing in the reliable infrastructure that keeps Two Rivers running.
